Steven Your Questions About Eye Exercises

Steven asks…

How do i improve my eye-sight with exercises?

Hey guys, I’ve heard rumors that you improve your eye-sight with exercises, if thats true, IT WOULD SAVE SOME MUCH MONEY!!! so can you guys show me some exercises or show me links to them (for free) that would be great.

admin answers:

Yes there are exersises but they are big secret exactly because you’d save so much money! People would put many factories out of business if they didn’t need glasses anymore.

Search the book by Bates and Corbett. They wrote the book with exersises.

Paul Your Questions About Eye Exercises

Paul asks…

helppp! what are some eye exercises you can do to lower your prescription?

I feel like like that my eyes are getting worse every month, like I can actually feel my prescription going higher. what are some things i can do to prevent this?

admin answers:

You may feel like your eyes are getting worse every month, but are you going to the eye doctor every month and getting a new prescription? I doubt it.

There’s nothing you can do to prevent your eye from “getting worse” — in that your glasses prescription gets stronger.

Any eye exercises you find online that claim to reduce your prescription actually are just eye exercises for your eye muscles (basically, vision therapy). They have nothing to do with your prescription.

So no there’s nothing you can really do except make sure you give your eyes rests during long near work. If you are on a computer all day or reading all day, make sure you look out into the distance (over 20 feet away) for at least 20 seconds every 20 minutes you are working. (The 20-20-20 rule.) But even this won’t prevent your prescription from getting worse, but it will prevent what is called hysteresis, which occurs when you work your eyes up close for so long that they muscle has a really hard time relaxing.

So sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your eyes are going to change no matter what you do.

Donna Your Questions About Eye Exercises

Donna asks…

Has anyone tried ortho-k lenses coupled with eye exercises for permanent vision improvement?

How well does it work?

admin answers:

Yes, not with orthoo-k though, just eye exercises plus the bates method. IT IS FREE.

(It will save people tons of money from not having to buy stronger and stronger glasses, year after year, (which is the case for children, teenagers and young adults whose nearsightedness has not “stabilized” (what?) ), which is why the optical industry, the optical (optometry) schools, eye doctors, ….. Don’t promote it.) $$$$$$

Children CANNOT tolerate the SIDE EFFECTS of the prescription glasses, which cause their nearsightedness to get worse. (This also applies to adults whose nearsightedness still gets worse.)

Chris Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia

Chris asks…

Ist it really necessary to fully correct my myopia?

I have two eyeglasses. My most recent ones are 6 years old but I keep my previous one for exercise. Right before a trip I was in a rush and left home with the old ones. These have a slightly lower prescription and I notice because I cannot read well very distant/small letterboards. However I can perfectly read books and my screen with them.

My trip was two weeks long and the funny thing is that I after coming back I do no longer feel comfortable with my latest eyeglasses. I feel my eyes more stressed with them, obviously I see better very distant things, but I am getting the feeling that my eyes are more relaxed and happier wearing my old and lower prescription.

I am not sure about what should I do. I keep hearing a lifestyle in the city (no distant objects), tv, computers and everything… is torturing my eyes, and after my experience, I am starting to have this foolish idea that wearing a lower prescription will be healthier if I work most of the time on my computer. Something like lower prescription == eyes working to see shorter distances as something more away/relaxing.

Is it any good if I sacrifice a perfect long/distance eyesight wering a slightly lower prescription ???

admin answers:

I agree with predator pretty much.

You might get a little bit of good by not being fully corrected for distance.
Your eyes may truly be happier and more relaxed wearing your old prescription.

I give you permission to wear your old Rx for computer distance. I’ll even give you permission to go without if you are comfortable and can still see.

If it could be shown that your new glasses are a teeny bit more minus than you need, that would explain a lot.

Your old glasses may be just right for distance, but what about at night. If your new ones are better for driving at night, it might be good to have them on hand,

Going back to your new glasses; you said that you obviously see better with them.
I am not sure that you obviously see better with them.
When you look at distant letters are they really clearer or just smaller and blacker?
If letters are just smaller and blacker don’t wear the new glasses.
Your old prescription may be very close to your ideal prescription.

James Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia

James asks…

Could I have diabetes? (I know, it’s a lot to read)?

Recently I went to the eye doctor and they said that I have holes in the sides of my retina, aka signs of retinal detachment. I did some research when I got home and it says that people with severe myopia and diabetes have a better chance of getting it. I know I have really bad eye sight so I know for sure that that is one of the causes of it, but I’m wondering if I could possibly have diabetes?

I did some research on the symptoms and I found:
Type 1 Diabetes
– Frequent urination
– Unusual thirst
– Extreme hunger
– Unusual weight loss
– Extreme fatigue and Irritability

Type 2 Diabetes
– Any of the type 1 symptoms
– Frequent infections
– Blurred vision
– Cuts/bruises that are slow to heal
– Tingling/numbness in the hands/feet
– Recurring skin, gum, or bladder infections

Now, I may just be becoming paranoid now because I did research on retinal detachment and diabetes, but I have noticed that I’ve been going to the bathroom more and I am thirsty more (but I don’t drink much water throughout the day in the first place). For a while I did always seem kinda hungry, but I figured that was due to the fact that I eat small meals throughout the day instead of three big ones. No unusual weight loss. I know I’ve been quite tired, but not really irritable lately, but I figured that was due to the lack of sleep since I had so many exams I was studying for the past two weeks. Blurred vision cause my eye sight sucks to start with. No infections, I don’t think my cut/bruises are slow to heal (but I did for a while randomly get a lot of bruises) and the only gum issue I’ve had recently is a slightly receding gum line on one of my teeth. A few months ago I would occasionally get a little numbness in the side of my thigh. So I feel like I have all the signs that I might have diabetes. Oh, and my grandma has it so we have history of diabetes in our family.

I’m 19 years old and keep a very healthy diet and exercise occasionally (I used to almost every day, but now almost not at all cause of my busy schedule), but I know I try not to consume a lot of sugars by usually getting sugar free food. I eat a lot of vegetables and have been eating more meat than I did compared to last year. I haven’t had the issue recently, but sometimes I could feel when my blood sugar was low because my hands would shake or I would feel a little lightheaded, but I haven’t had any of that recently.

Is there a chance I might actually have diabetes now? Or had a mild case of it and never really know it?

admin answers:

Well we can’t tell you whether you have it or not.
Go to your dr and ask for blood tests to check for diabetes.
If you go for a yearly physical these tests are commonly done then so if your last test was fine then its most likely that you do not have it.
Personally i doubt that you have it but i’m not a dr.

Maria Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia

Maria asks…

Help, question about shortsightedness (myopia) exercises!?

I’m 13 and I’m shortsighted.

I only got shortsighted a few months ago and my degrees is currently – left eye -1.25, right eye -2.00. I used to have pretty good vision until I got normal flu in February. I went to the eye doctor and they said because of my sickness, my eyesight deteriorated. I now have glasses but only wear them when I need to see something like on the whiteboard ect. I try to use them as less as possible.

I really want my eyesight back, I was wondering if there are any exercises I could do to get it back. I mean some exercises that could really help. Even if you think eye exercises don’t work, i would still like to do them, because I know I am at least trying to do something about it.

Please help, I really would like my eyesight back, I am only 13.

Thanks for helping!!

admin answers:

There are no exercises that help your vision. Unless you have perception issues..but I don’t think you do. I have never heard of having bad vision because you got the flu. I think you misunderstood ur doc. Your vision probably changed a lot lately..because at 13 yrs old that’s when most boys go thru puberty. Your vision is genetic..nothing you can do to make it better or worse. Ask ur doc about contact lenses. And, when you start driving please wear ur glasses..otherwise ur a lil bit of a danger on the road. Good luck!

Carol Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Better Vision

Carol asks…

Mono vision @ -2.50 what happens when it gets beyond this level?

I’m a 45 years old contact lense wearer and my contacts are -3 and -2.50. This year my optician suggested mono vision as I was having problems with small print and reduced my prescription by -1.50 in one eye. I can already tell that the close up vision is not as good as it was when I first started the mono vision exercise.

My question is what happens if my near prescription gets more than 2.50, will I still be able to do monovision? I really don’t want to have to wear reading glasses – the reason I wear contacts is because I’d rather not wear glasses afterall.

Is this normal for someone of my age and is there an average ‘add’ for someone of 45 years of age?
Thanks

admin answers:

Yes-It’s normal for your age. Holding small print at about 14 to 15 inches from the eye a 45 year old would normally need an add of about +1.25.

Monovision works with any strength realizing the non dominant eye will have trouble adjusting because you will have trouble suppressing the dominant eye.and will want to use the dominant eye for everything. Normally it’s best therefore to use the dominant eye for distance for safer driving at the expense of close vision which will be using the non dominant eye.

Mark Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Better Vision

Mark asks…

Should I ditch my normal prescription glasses and only use reading glasses when I need to see something?

I’ve been wearing prescription glasses pretty much all day, every day of my life since I was 7. I am now 21, and I am sure that my vision has gotten much worse, since glasses and contact lenses are nothing but bandages, making your eyes more dependable them and worsening your vision. I’m sick of wearing them, 13 years is too long, and I look much better without them. I am seriously considering getting a system to repair my vision naturally using eye exercises, but in the meantime, I am also thinking of ditching my glasses (since it’s not like I can’t see where I am going) and only using basic reading glasses for reading music, hard to see signs, and such. It can’t hurt.

admin answers:

That is untrue. Contact lenses can actually slow down vision changes; i myself am proof of that. Since getting contacts i have been able to see almost 20/20 and my vision has not changed in quite a while.

It really depends on how bad your vision is. If you can pass the vision test without them, then go ahead and ditch them. But if you see blurry at all you should keep wearing them! Especially if you’re driving!

I’ve never heard of repairing eyes naturally, but it sounds like a hoax to me. I would get laser eye surgery, which is proven to work and has an excellent success rate with the right doctors.

James Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Better Vision

James asks…

i really need help ):?

i’ve been taking off my glasses now for about half a week and i play computer all day and try to see, but i have to look closer to see better. i do eye exercises everyday and i eat healthy. i’m just so sad that my vision takes soo long to improve, i just want to find something better to do than computer because my parents just watch tv all day, can anyone help? i’m very sad and am i doing the right thing by taking off my glasses?
play a game with my parents? no, i don’t think so! they never play with me or do anything with me! i’m soo sad right now, sometimes i wish i was adopted.

admin answers:

Well, the bad part is to put your eyes infront of the screen because that will make you blind. If you want to do something else than use the computer why don’t you call some friends to meet outside with or go take a walk. She could nicely ask your parents if they would like to do something with you like play with a 500 piece-puzzle,a board game like monoply… Just try to not keep your eyes staring at one thing.Did you ever ask your parents if they can enroll you to play a sport? You can’t sit like that at home doing nothing while your parents don’t pay attention.(especially now because it’s vacation)Tell them how you feel and they’ve got to listen because they have to take good care of you…

Richard Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia

Richard asks…

Can I use glasses with lower prescription ??? Read this please icon smile Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia ?

I am 16 years old boy and I am asking: Can I use my glasses:
R sph -2,50 cyl NO ax NO
L sph -2,50 cyl NO ax NO
but my real prescription is:
R sph -5,75 cyl -1.00 ax 180
L sph -5,25 cyl -1,25 ax 155

I would like to use them for PC, for reading/writing, for TV, etc.
My real prescription is too strong for close work.
I feel uncomfortable with them.

I feel good with glasses -2,50 and I can see enough with them.

My 2nd question is: Can glasses -2,50 worse my vision (eyesight) if I use them a lot?
I am afraid for myself, because I wouldn`t like to worse my vision much more.

P.S. Prescription -2.5 = my first eye prescription.

And my 3rd question is: Can plus lenses somehow help myopia (using them for close work) to improve eyesight, pinhole glasses (I have bought them) and eye exercises?

Bye and Thanks to all good people. icon smile Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia
Is it dangerous to use glasses only with sphere power, `cause I have astigmatism???

admin answers:

If you can see well enough with the old ones for certain activities, there is nothing wrong with doing that , and won’t harm anything.

Pinhole glasses or exercises won’t do anything to help though.

There is nothing ” dangerous” about using your old glasses…don’t worry about it and just wear the ones you feel the most comfortable with.

David Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia

David asks…

MY EYESIGHT IS REALLLYY BADD!!!!!?

ever since i was 11, i have been wearing glasses -> and i started at -3 for both eyes
and due to the optometrists’ orders, i have been wearing them all the time, even when i
didnt need them.. rite now im 15 and my eyesight for both eyes is -7!
This is terrible and i feel my eyesight is deteriorating at an incredible rate.
what makes me wonder, my friend who had the same eysight as me in grade 6,
and it has not increased one bit.. but she only wore them when she needed them
(for copying notes in class) im soo scared and i know my eysight is extremely
severe myopia! icon sad Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia i want to save/improve my eyesight PLEASE! dont mention
glasses, contacts, lasik.. i already know that.. i also heard bout eye exercises (dont rlly
know much bout it though)
please anything would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
thank you so much in advance!
my parents wear glasses, but they only got them 2 yrs ago. They have -1 and dont even
need their glasses so its not genetic.. my grandparents dont need glasses either..
thanks again
the big question is that i have noticed that ppl who always wore glasses (when
they didnt need them even) kept on getting stronger and stronger prescriptions
unlike ppl who wore them when needed..
this is my problem and i can undo the years i spent wearing them all the time..
so lucy, if you could (or anyone else) pls give me more info on how to improve
my eyesight NATURALLY, i would be super super grateful!!! if anyone has past experiences
with poor eyesight and how they improved it naturally, that would be amazing!
thanks again!!!!!!!!!

admin answers:

Wearing glasses just weakens your eye muscles to the point, you keep needing stronger prescriptions.Try some eye nutrients, usch at Vit A,lutein, and bilberry.Check iut the Bates Method or vision therapy.

Donald Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia

Donald asks…

when will i gain my perfect sight?

im 14 years old and i have been wearing glasses for 5 years now and i have changed glasses 3 times and my current glasses have been on my face for over 1 year an d a half and i feel slight improvement. however everytime i have been changing my glasses it was always to a stronger prescription. i have myopia.
i heard that wearing glasses all the time might deterriorate your vision on the other hand if the optian says all the time, then it should be allt he time. i have heard of eye exercises and pack called rebuildmyvision or something like that.
i dont know exactly how bad my vision is as in i dont know how many points im off from 20/20.
can anyone tell me the truth about what can make my vision good again and what i should do.
thank you

admin answers:

Right first of all let me explain exactly what myopia is. Light is focused by its lens system, the cornea and the crystalline lens inside the eye, onto the retina, the light sensitive part. In your case the light is being focused in front of the retina hence the blur unless you hold an object close to you. I wont go into why that happens as you would need to understand geometric optics. Okay with me so far. Why is this happening. Either your eyeball is too long or the eyes lens system is too powerful or a combination of both. Right so what can you do about it.
How are exercises going to shorten your eye or reduce the power of its lens system. Short answer they will not.

Spectacles load to choose from and how many times must I say this. THEY DO NOT MAKE YOUR EYES WORSE. All they do is put your out of focus cameras, your, eyes into focus. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WEAR THEM, this will make no difference your sight but you might just walk under a bus!

Contact lenses are a good option as long as you care for them and get regular checkups.

Laser surgery I don’t think I would suggest this option until you have finished growing and your prescription has stabilised.

There is also on the market a contact lens that you sleep in. It is claimed they can temporally improve your vision. They do this by flattening the cornea. I am deeply suspicious of the method.

To sum up get your advice from qualified practitioners and not wishful thinkers, we do not go in for “holistic” approaches because a) they don’t work and b) often the people advocating them have no idea how our vision works.

Chris Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Better Vision

Chris asks…

Do you know any particular exercise for eyes?

Coz i dont have a good vision. I have eyeglasses but i dont want to use it. Maybe there are exercises that can make my eyesight clear…

admin answers:

There are no eye exercises that will alter astigmatism, hyperopia, myopia or repair retinal detachment, change macular degeneration, or reverse retinopathy. In short, exercises will not improve vision. This is hype without a scientific basis.

Charles Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Better Vision

Charles asks…

How can I improve my eyesight?

I want my eyesight to be better so that I can see things more clearly. I have glasses, but I only wear them for reading. Is there anything to do so that I can improve my eyesight? I’ve heard there are certain eye exercises that you can do to improve your vision.

I don’t really like glasses. The reason why I have worse eyesight is because I’m growing, so I have to wear glasses for reading for several years. They said that my eyesight would be back to normal once I’ve grown. I’m still a teenager.

Anything except:
- Laser surgery
- Contact lenses

admin answers:

Millions wear glasses and would all like their sight to be better without surgery…but, that’s life.

Be realistic, if there was a simple way, don’t you think it would be common knowledge by now ?

You just have to accept the fact that your vision is what it is, and live with it.

It must be your first time here, because 100 people a month ask the same thing.

Ken Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Better Vision

Ken asks…

Can you fix your eyesight to get 20/20 vision?

Is there a sort of exercise you can use to get your eyes to work better?
I have a low prescription for nearsightedness. Can I fix this?
I do not want to get surgery!

admin answers:

I’m not sure if you can “fix” it, as you say. I have really poor eyesight (mine apparently is -4 and I literally cannot see clearly beyond my nose). My optometrist a few years back showed me an exercise that would help me adapt to the strong prescription of my new glasses. She told me to focus on near and far object alternately, which i did using a pencil and another faraway object like a wall. You hold the pencil close to you eyes, not too close but close enough to have a clear view of it, and then you look beyond the pencil to the object in the distance. Then you return your gaze to the pencil again, and you do this over a few times more depending on how comfortable you find the exercise. You’ll find the muscles in your eyes have to adjust substantially each time your gaze shifts, and this exercises the muscles. I found it helped a little in my case, but my eyesight is terrible, so it might help you more than it did me. She also gave me a card with letters of the alphabet on it, and made me hold that up and then recite the first line, and then look at the wall, then go back and read the next line, which also got my eyes to adjust and focus quickly. Hope this helps and maybe others can tell me if this advice was appropriate…btw i am going for laser surgery soon:) if your eyesight isnt too bad, im sure you can improve it with more eye exercise, a proper diet and some “eye rest.”
