Your Questions About An Impaired Immune System

February 7, 2014

Laura asks…

How to understand that a heart attack was caused by an acute stress reaction?

How to understand that a heart attack was caused by an acute stress reaction?

admin answers:

In healthy subjects, acute mental stress simultaneously activates coagulation (ie, fibrinogen or von Willebrand factor) and fibrinolysis (ie, tissue-type plasminogen activator) within a physiological range. In patients with atherosclerosis and impaired endothelial anticoagulant function, however, procoagulant responses to acute stressors may outweigh anticoagulant mechanisms and thereby promote a hypercoagulable state. Chronic psychosocial stressors (job strain or low socioeconomic status) are related to a hypercoagulable state reflected by increased procoagulant molecules (ie, fibrinogen or coagulation factor VII) and by reduced fibrinolytic capacity. There is also some evidence that points to hypercoagulability in depression.(… ).

There is good evidence to show that stress can increase a person’s heart rate, lower the immune system’s ability to fight colds and increase certain inflammatory markers but can stress also raise a person’s cholesterol? It appears so for some people, according to a new study that examines how reactions to stress over a period of time can raise a person’s lipid levels.

Michael asks…

Why is green tea better for you than regular tea?

They both have antioxidants, so whats the difference?

admin answers:

I have answered this question a few months ago …this is my answer
Best Answer – Chosen by Asker

both teas are good for you, here are just a few medical conditions in which drinking green tea is reputed to be helpful:

rheumatoid arthritis
high cholesterol levels
cariovascular disease
impaired immune function
The secret of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant: besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots. The latter takes on added importance when you consider that thrombosis (the formation of abnormal blood clots) is the leading cause of heart attacks and stroke.
Green tea can even help dieters
Green tea can even help prevent tooth decay! Just as its bacteria-destroying abilities can help prevent food poisoning, it can also kill the bacteria that causes dental plaque. Meanwhile, skin preparations containing green tea – from deodorants to creams – are starting to appear on the market.
The only negative side effect reported from drinking green tea is insomnia due to the fact that it contains caffeine.

In comparison white tea white tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. White tea is similar to green tea, in that it’s undergone very little processing and no fermentation. But there is a noticable difference in taste. Most green teas have a distinctive ‘grassy’ taste to them, but white tea does not. There is also considerably less caffeine in white tea .research shows White Tea Extract can actually destroy in vitro the organisms that cause disease. Study after study with tea extract proves that it has many healing properties. This is not an old wives tale, it’s a fact.”
White tea was more effective than green tea at inactivating bacterial viruses. Results obtained with the bacterial virus, a model system; suggest that WTE may have an anti-viral effect on human pathogenic viruses. The addition of White Tea Extract to various toothpastes enhanced the anti-microbial effect of these oral agents.

Studies have also indicated that WTE has an anti-fungal effect on Penicillium chrysogenum and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. In the presence of WTE, Penicillium spores and Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast cells were totally inactivated. It is suggested that WTE may have an anti-fungal effect on pathogenic fungi.

I think white tea tastes better then green tea

i think the best is to include both teas in your diet

David asks…

How long can a stage 4 cancer patient live with ascites?

She is in hospice care and has stopped all treatments for advanced metastatic breast cancer. The cancer has spread to her liver and bones. She is living with us and has full-time caregivers in addition to Hospice. She’s trying to avoid invasive treatments like a Plurex catheter. We’re managing it with morphine, low salt diet etc….

admin answers:

You would need to find this out from someone that has more complete information on the situation. There are all sorts of possible systemic failures that can occur, so whatever system is most impaired will probably fail first, and different systems fail at different rates. Ascites can persist for months or cause the circulatory system to collapse within days, depending on the severity. Liver failure varies in severity, and could take weeks to months. Bone cancer can affect blood characteristics in a variety of ways – a common effect is loss of the immune system, so people often die from an infection like the flu or pneumonia.

Your Questions About For Those Who Think Young

March 23, 2013

Daniel asks…

What do you think causes a young man’s pride in his country and “dieing with honor for his country”?

I think that young men are manipulated with propaganda and many ways to think that they should fight for their country. I think that it is the government and their paid officials who make young men feel worthless and feminine if they resist to fight. What do you think?

admin answers:

Yes. It’s called inculcation. If you live in the US, as a schoolkid you stand and recite something every morning, called Oath of Allegiance or something like that. Parents have already been inculcated (programmed), so no problem there. So have the teachers and other influential persons in a child’s life, so no problem there. And the media just piles it on in newspapers, books, mags, TV shows, movies, and more recently in computer games. The kid is fooked from day one. Few have the intelligence to notice it and fewer still the courage to stand against it. If you’re one of the rare exceptions, then please accept my congratulations and my hope that if you find you can do nothing else, you at least raise your own children to be aware of the assault on their minds.

Steven asks…

for those who tell young teens to wait till they’re older…?

I agree with you about young unmarried people to wait to have sex. So when they put their young age, and want advice on how to have sex, i usually tell them so. But what do you think about these kids who want to know how to pleasure themselves. Do you think that this is wrong for them to do as well? Do you think that i am wrong to answer them? Where is this opinion founded? i.e. religion, personal opinion, etc.

admin answers:

Personally? I would rather give a young teen advice to pleasure themselves. It is safer for them and besides, it’s theirs, they should be allowed to play with it if they want to. My opinion is founded from personal experience. I was very young when I started having sex. I wish I had pleasured myself and stayed away from men till I was much older.

Richard asks…

Why judge those who marry young?!?!?!?!?

Well a little about myself, Im 21 born and raised in Southern California I have been with my now husband since I was 14. We got married when I was 18 and he was 21. People ask all the time “why marry so young, why not live life first?” and this is what I tell them. I married my husband because for one he is my up most best friend, my other half, my soul mate, he respects me, puts me first and he’s just the love of my life. And why didn’t I wait and live life? Well that depends on what you call living life…for some that means partying, going to clubs, dating some people, hanging out with friends….but for people like myself living life is, finding my soul mate, being a wife, a mother and just enjoying my family. Don’t get me wrong I dated…MY husband then boyfriend…and we both partied as teens, but we got that out of our systems and we are over that scene. Who is to say we cant “live life” together? My life didnt end just cause I got married, we just began a life together. We had a great time celebrating for my 21st birthday, I ordered my first alcoholic beverage but barely drank it, it was great LOL but we are over that now, we want to start our family. I just don’t think there is anything wrong with that at all. People are constantly dating multiple people just trying to find what Im blessed to have in my partner, so why let him go?? I would just like to hear your opinions on the matter…
Add: Redhead thank you for your opinion and for answering my post. It is hard for some to understand that I dont need to experience another man to know what love, loyalty and respect is. Ive seen my girlfriends go through enough with there loser boyfriends, and everyone I know is looking for what I have, which tells me in itself I have a reat thing. But thanks again.
Add: Thank you for all the answers I respect everyones opinion.
I think someone misunderstood, Im very secure in my marriage and Im not defensive at all. I just saw another post bashing young marriages and wanted to here other opinions.
Ghosia: Great response! I couldnt have put it better myself!~
I just wanted to add We are in college and work full time as an accountant so we have education and careers
Its easy to misinterperate emotions through typing but no im not angry at all and i do respect others opinions, so thank you everyone for answering~
Whitch: Well the point of yahoo answers is to bring up discussions and see others thoughts. Im bored @ work so thats what im doing, there is nothing wrong with starting a discussion and getting people thinking. But thanks for your input.

admin answers:

I think it’s because what you have is so rare. So many people’s relationships would have fizzled out by now, leaving both partners wishing they had dated other people and explored more options. I think what you have is wonderful!

admin answers:

Well I am not a doctor but you do sound like you need help. I am 19 and was recently diagnosed with GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), depression, and obsessive thoughts. It kind of sounds like you have obsessive thoughts like me which in turn causes anxiety, anxiety is a feeling caused by a thoughts so it is important to distinguish between a thought and a mood/feeling. I would imagine cutting my finger off when cutting food, or having my tires blow out when I am driving (obsessive thoughts) sometimes I just feel very on edge and unnerved about a situation without any reason (generalized anxiety). These are chemical imbalances. I know you said you will not take meds but for me zoloft has made my life so much better. I am now a happy person, I am not so negative and paranoid, I enjoy things now. You should see a psychologist.

Sandra asks…

Diabetes/Glaucoma question…?

Hi, I have some questions and Im pretty scared about this.

About 4 months or ago, I started noticing a spot in my eye, it followed my eye where ever it moved. I guess I never thought about it much, until one day in the store, I was looking at the white floor and really noticed it. I went home and googled it. I discovered they are probably floaters (noticed one in the other eye too, but it isn;t as big or dark as the one in the other eye) So, I make an app. And my doc has me make an eye app with an (optometrist I think?) an eye doctor. It took almost 6 weeks to see him, finally getting in in a couple days.

Ok, I didn’t realize this before until I started googling other symptoms. I think I may be diabetic.

I am 30/female.

I am 80 lbs overweight (yes, thats damn sad and I know it)

I urinate a lot now. (I can’t even figure out how long this has been going on)

I already drink a lot of water, so I guess I dont notice being thirsty if I am. I drink it because its “good for you” not because Im thirsty.

I have tingling in the hands and feet not extreme, but noticeable, especially the hands when I wake up. Thats when it IS extreme. Only in the morning when I wake its bad.

My vision is blurry, I can;t see objects well if they are far off. I also now squint at the computer.

My eyes always feel like theirs water in them. They feel like their “runny”

Sometimes my eyes feel like they are crossing or something.. I know thats weird, Im not sure how to explain that one…

After I eat a meal, I feel so tired. Even if it isn’t a big meal.

My BP was slighty high last time I was at the doctors (couple months ago)

Oddly I am not constantly hungry when I start getting used to eating smaller meals. Before I was always hungry (but, you know, Im overweight so I was used to eating a lot) A month ago I started eating smaller meals, and a week later I noticed the constant hunger disappeared. I lost 30lbs, but, that was from the exercise and not stuffing my face…

SORRY this is so darn long…

Anyway, I have a few questions. If I find out I have glaucoma, do you think it’s too late to help me? I guess what I mean is will it lead to blindness? Is there anything I can do to prevent more floaters from coming, and the one in the other eye from getting larger? Or are they going to get worse?

I know I don’t know of its diabetes yet, I should have been tested before my eye appointment… but I just figured out that these symptoms add up and could mean thats what it is. Strange thing is, I was tested 2 years ago and I didnt have it. But, I didn;t have ANY of these symptoms back then, either…

Sorry this is so many questions… (and yes I WILL make an app for the diabetes test. Definitely.)

admin answers:

Floaters are not definitely diabetes. Its more like little blind spots. I have them and they are from leakage of fluid from the eye vessels from high blood sugar. Regular black floaters can be just something you got, people get them. Go to an ophthalmologist for a full examination. You are not going blind and even if it is diabetes, it can be stopped if its neuropathy and getting your sugar right will keep it from getting worse. Doesn’t sound like cataracts or glaucoma at all.

Tired after meals-yes, definately a sign of diabetes.
Overweight-you are more prone, yes. Definitely raises your risk.
The 30 pounds you lost would definitely make the diabetes significantly better if you have it.

Blurry vision is a sign of diabetes but not the watery eyes and the “crossed eye feeling”. That sounds more like allergy, sinus or migraine. You might have a food allergy causing this.

High bp comes from diabetes, overweight, and many other possibilities.

If you are diabetic, it tends to get worse as you get older, so you could have it even if you didn’t two years ago. If I had to give an educated guess, I would say you probably do have it.

Helen asks…

What is wrong with me? I’ve been dizzy/off-balance for a week.?

I have been what I usually would describe as dizzy. I woke up one morning and I felt a little unsteady on my feet, similar to being dizzy when you are feverish. I was sick with a flu-like cold at that time, so I didn’t think much of it. I spent all day outside, and I felt a little wobbly, or off balance, like my equilibrium is off. It goes between being good, and being terrible during the day, and it gets worse when I sit down. Sometimes it’s so bad I have a hard time walking straight, and sometimes I can barely notice it. I don’t have any other symptoms, my muscle strength is normal. I went to the ER for something else earlier, and I doubt they could detect or diagnose what is specifically wrong with this kind of dizziness.

It doesn’t have to do with my vision, because I still feel off-balance when I walk with my eyes closed, and I am not uncoordinated. I haven’t fallen once, but changes in the position of my head are disorienting, and I feel uncomfortable when I sit for long periods of time because I regain the disoriented feeling when eating or otherwise looking down, sometimes with headaches on the side of my head, and pain near my wisdom teeth and sometimes around the ears. It hasn’t gotten worse, but it has not become much better either. I’ve arranged for a doctor’s appointment, but it won’t be for a few days. I’m otherwise healthy, and I eat well, take vitamins, exercise, don’t smoke/drink, etc.
I am positive that I am not pregnant, and it happened suddenly(upon waking), and has not gotten better or worse since.

admin answers:

I think you should see a doctor immediately because this sort of stuff is serious. It might be a sign that you have a tumour in your brain and it might be pushing on a nerve or something that controls your balance.

Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Lazy Eye

June 6, 2012

Ruth asks…

Desperately need serious help … weird health problem?

I am at my obesity first stage for 2 years and I know It’s kind of serious. So i tried my best to exercise as much as I could. I cannot jog cos my body is too heavy and I walk a lot. I stay separately with my family and just rent a room where cooking is not allowed. So I’ve been eating outside food (mean unhealthy food) for 8 years!

I have Uric acid for 2 years but I could feel now It’s getting more serious. I tried to control my food but I can’t due to some reasons and I LOVE eating. I don’t have much friends and no family around here so in other words I lack of support from People around me which sometimes make me feel lazy and give up on diet and exercise. This year I could feel my knees (joint) pain when I squat and I’m not sure for what reason my lower leg around ankle pain . I tried to drink as much water as possible. Another problem is about kidney/ bladder. I always feel something pulling and very pain about 3-4 inch below my belly ? Is it prostate? uterus ? or what? STONES ? any comment?

Another funny problem occur is I’m having sleeping problem for years. I don’t have any stress and I’m very relax minded person. Sometime I can stay awake for 3 days without sleeping (just rest and close my eyes) I’m serious, no joking . I thought I’m having paranoia/ insomnia or whatever but doctor said I’m fine ? I am fat but I lack of blood … and I don’t have any chance to join any blood donation activities. If I could get better sleep the earliest I can sleep is 3 am and wake up at 7 am. Sometimes I sleep for 3 hours only for few months and I really feel like giving up my life … It’s freaking tired when I work without getting proper sleep. I tried many times to sleep early but end up I just wasting my time turning around the bed for hours. All tips I get from Internet I’ve tried but seems to be useless for me?

Now I’m having problems like getting dark spots, dry skin, low energy and pimples on the face and my skin contour/ texture getting worse and I get fine lines under my eyes at age 25! All thanks to my sleeping disorder. Since June started to hate my throat cos when I sleep I couldn’t breath so I have to sleep side ways. I thought due to my double chin but doctor said no problems and gave me some medicine. After few weeks it (my throat problem) came back 2 weeks and gone for 3 weeks and come back to visit me again (on and off). Then my hip keep on getting the skin swelling boil things (ulcerate/ abscess). My eyes keep on coming tears/ watery and it feel pains and hot. There was few times I feel like my rib cage pain and feels like pulling up and down. Sometimes my chest pain ? Or may be liver problem due to uric acid? My spine stiff and I always pain here and there and now due to the pain at my lower leg ankle , am I having diabetics? My grandma had it !! I’ve done last body check up on April this years and so far doctor said only have to watch out my Uric Acid but still no need to take any medicine. I tried to consume supplements (very good n expensive brand) but after eating I felt my heart pumping faster and I gain weight … very uncomfortable, then I stop taking any of it …. Am i alien? I’m sick keep on seeing doctor and pay for stupid unnecessary medication and consultation fee and doctors/ clinics are doing business sometime I don’t need the stupid cream I also have to pay for it. I think I’m going to die.

Any idea how to overcome all these ?

Thanks for your advise.
My obesity problem caused serious problem only for Uric Acid. Other matters (especially sleeping problem) have been occurred before I started overweight. I was size 11 last 3 years.

admin answers:

Hi – as you mention prostate, I take it that you are a guy.

ALL of your symptoms are weight related.

Consuming supplements and buying creams cannot help you in any way, until you understand this simple formulae:

*overeating + underexercising = obesity / obesity = ill health and early death*

You have sleep apnoea due to the flab at the back of your throat choking off your air supply when you try and sleep.

You cannot sleep properly because you are inactive and because your poor body is trying to digest large amounts of unhealthy food.

Your skin is swollen and boggy due to too much fat and water-retention caused by lack of exercise and too much salty processed foods. Inevitably this will lead to ulceration, or the lesions of diabetes.

ALL of the organs in your body are now coated with a thick layer of yellow glutinous fat. They cannot help but give you symptoms such as those that you describe.

Your joints are giving up because they cannot support your weight.

Your facial skin is coarse and spotty because of the lack of good healthy food and the overeating of greasy fast foods.

You need desperately to get to a Doctor (change your Doctor if you need to), and go on a healthy eating plan suitable for you.

But this cannot and will not work until you face up to the fact that the thing that you love most in the world, your food, is killing you.

Good luck for the future.

Daniel asks…

Do You Think People With Eating Disorsers (Anorexia/Bulimia) Are Selfish?

People say that people with eating disorders are just selfish and doing it to be pretty or whatever, or for attention. Well if they’re doing it for attention, why do they try SO hard to hide it so people don’t find out? And you think they’re lazy, “oh just eat healthy and exercise,” if it was that easy, don’t you think they’d do that. It’s an obsession, an addiction, a mental disease. Telling them to stop purging or to stop starving is like telling someone with depression to stop being depressed. It just annoys me how people say they’re weak and lazy and if they really cared they’d just do it the right way. How would you feel if you were bullied and people made fat jokes about you that drove you into an eating disorder. I’m 14 and I have bulimia and I cry my eyes out every night, I pull my hair out and I can’t even handle looking in mirrors anymore. A few days ago I had a small intervention and I was positive I was cured. I even went out and bought a bunch of healthy food, and that same night before I went to sleep I got all these nasty thoughts about how much better it’d be if I just starved myself. You can’t stop those thoughts… They just happen. So before you call an anorexic or bulimic selfish, actually think about what they’re going through… That’s just my opinion.

admin answers:

I’m very sorry to hear what you’re going through.
I don’t think that people with eating disorders are selfish at all. This may be because I used to suffer from bulimia when I was your age,(maybe a couple years younger) up to around the age of 17. I understand how hard it is. As I am recovered, I find it hard to even imagine how much I used to HATE myself. Every part of me I hated and I always felt like everyone else hated me too. Looking back on it, I have no idea why I even had an eating disorder. I have always been on the thinner side and always done well at school, but for some reason I just remember my whole child hood as being obsessed with weight and food.
I don’t think that people with eating disorders are selfish because I know from first hand experience how hard it is to get on with your life without thinking about food 24/7. How hard it is to look in a mirror, and just how hard it is to leave the house in fear of being judged.
Anyone who thinks people with eating disorders are selfish are just uneducated on the subject. You can’t be upset with people who think this because they simply don’t understand – and they wont understand if they haven’t experienced it.

I really hope you can find help one day and be truly happy. I am now 21 and completing my last year at university and studying my favorite subject. I don’t have to worry about food anymore and sure my life isn’t perfect and I get sad sometimes, but since I got help my life just feels, lighter. Like I’ve taken a huge weight off my shoulders and I can finally breathe. It’s hard to describe the feeling. I’m hoping you’ll experience it for yourself one day. Good luck and I genuinely hope that you get better one day – Don’t let an eating disorder control your life.
I was bullied when I was younger. The people who used to bully me aren’t HALF the person I am today. They either have no job, got hardly anything out of school or are living off of the government. Me on the other hand, I now have a great boyfriend, I am at an excellent university and will soon have a very high paid job and my eating disorder is in the past – just like yours will be one day.

James asks…

What can an inactive person do to ease his/her exercise headaches?

Okay, so, I’m 18, and for about 17 of those years I’ve been completely inactive >_> Like, typical lazy teenager kind of deal (not a chub-cake, tho. High metabolism.) Recently, I’ve decided to start exercising by starting slow with my mom’s 10 minute Pilates routine. I’m only working on my legs for now, and plan to slowly work each part of my body separately (legs, then stomach, then arms, then full body).

But anyways, that’s not the point. After only 10 minutes of working out my legs, I get a major headache on the base of my head/top of my neck, and between my eyes. Is there any way I can ease my headaches (no aspirin or Tylenol allowed in my house =/)?
Am I going too fast into these new routines? Is there an easier way to go about working out that will not result in a pounding headache that forces me to sleep?

Thanks in advance.

admin answers:

You are causing pressure to you spine. You should have x-rays taken to make sure you are not having disc issues or have something else going on with your spine. Go see a osteopath or chiropractor. They will take x-rays setup exercises to help and if needed send you to a orthopedic or neurosurgeon. Massage and chiropractic care have really made a difference in my headaches. In the mean time put heat at the base of your head; never ice and when exercise put a rolled up towel under your neck.

Best wishes.

Take care of yourself.

Donna asks…

What should i do?eye problem?

i am on playing computer for like 12 hours or so a day for about 3 month and now my eyes are really and tired and sometimes they really hurt …what should i do is there any eye exercise or something…i want to improve my vision but i don’t to do those laser ,operation etc. when i was small my eyes where super good and now i ruined them can someone help me?i want eye exercise to improve vision and heal eyes…10Q
i said eyes you know the 2 balls on your face under forehead

admin answers:

Well, firstly, 12 hrs in front of a computer game, unless that is your job (and even still) then this is pretty unhealthy for your eyes and the rest of your body! Never mind exercising your eyes, try some actual exercise!

Cutting down the amount you sit in front of a computer screen ought to help first, you are probably straining your eyes.

You may need glasses to stop the strain, im not sure about exercises though, im no expert but i doubt there is anything you can do other than stop straining your eyes as much

I have to be on the computer a lot due to studying a lot. I make sure I have a 15 min break for every 45 mins. In that time i shut down the computer and do something completely different, like close my eyes and listen to some music – thus giving my eyes a rest

Maria asks…

Bates method of perfect vision?

I was reading online about bates’ method to improved vision through eye exercises and diet etc. And I want to know how true it is. I mean it seems pretty easy to do and if it’s true I will definitely try it.
What is the medicine called?

admin answers:

Yes, I used a similar method that worked well. Improving the muscles helps with eyesight as long as that is the problem.

There are also supplements to help the eyes repair themselves.

Don’t buy into the “no cure” ideology pushed by many doctors who only use drugs. Of course a drug can’t cure anything, it can only handle the symptoms.
