Mine has but for some reason no one believes me, at one point I almost needed glasses and now I don’t :)

My brother needed glasses for being farsighted when he was a kid. He doesn’t need them anymore, his eyes improved.

My eyes improved once. The doctor said it happens sometimes that people’s eye get better. But they said it is more likely that I was overscripted.

Joseph asks…

improving eyesight naturally? or lasik??

ok, obviously, naturally is easier….but does it work?? besides…i cant get lasik til im 18 so thats a 5 year wait…..

the thing is, if anyone out there tried either of those solutions 4 bad eyesight, plz tell me if they work and if so, where u got it

thanx!!

admin answers:

You cannot naturally change the focal length of the eye, there are no muscles that you can exercise that will change the shape of the eye. When you squint, looking through narrow slits, you artificially change the focal length by narrowing the beam of light entering the eye, but that is a very unnatural way to look at the world. Lasik works by changing the shape of the eye permanently, but because your eye will be growing as you do, you cannot do it until you stop the accelerated growth in adolescence. Personally, if you can wait till you are 18, Lasik worked for me and I have had no problems since, no longer would I walk into walls if i didn’t have my glasses on.

David asks…

Improving Eyesight naturally?

I have strong aspirations of becoming a military pilot in a few years and only one thing unsettles me about that. My eyesight isn’t perfect and I wear contacts. I am -1.50 and -1.25 in the other. I have seen many things online about naturally improving eyesight but it all seems bogus. One thing seemed central which was not to wear corrective lenses. Which I haven’t for about a week now, i printed out an eye chart and have measured it for the past week and it has seemed to have gotten slightly better. Whether that is just my eyes natural ups and downs, I don’t know. I was just wondering if anybody has any personal experiences or medical advice to this. Anything helps and is greatly appreciated, and I’ll be flying regardless so don’t go easy.

admin answers:

Most eye problems are because of the shape of the eyeball and there is nothing short of surgery that you can do to fix it.
There will be those who will answer and tell you all kinds of supplements or homeopathic medicine or other stuff to ‘naturally’ cure your eyesite but frankly that is BS. None of that can change the shape of your eyebal.

George asks…

How to improve your eyesight?

So how do one improve his/her eyesight, naturally, without the surgery.
Thanks in advance

admin answers:

As opposed to buttsight?

It’s called vision.

Robert asks…

Has anybody ever improved their eyesight naturally?

One of my friends used to wear glasses and he says he doesn’t need them anymore. He doesnt wear contacts and he didn’t get lasik. He says he just started to notice his eyesight get better and now he doesnt use them. So how is this possible. And his myopia was severe too.

admin answers:

I don’t normally like to agree with the skeptics, but as much as I wish I could say otherwise, glasses, contacts, or surgery are the only way to improve your eyesight. I think your friend is either lying (he may have contacts) or it was some weird fluke that he got glasses (which maybe he didn’t need) and his eyes fixed themselves… Although I’ve never heard of that happening unless the person didn’t actually need glasses.

I’ve been looking for other options for over 20 years since I first had to get glasses and I have found things that improve the health of your eyes (which can help them from getting worse), but they can’t make the actual visual acuity better. Most of them are natural herbs (like Lutein, Bilberry, and Eyebright) and vitamins (A and E among others) that help maintain the health of the eye, but unfortunately couldn’t improve vision.
The main reason is because vision problems are a physical problem (the physical distance between the retina and lens), not a chemical problem that can be changed with drugs, herbs, or supplements :-(

I’ve heard of eye exercises that some people try, but based on a lot of research I’ve done on them, there is no basis to say that it will improve your eyesight at all long-term. All that’s left after all that is surgery or glasses/contacts. Sorry.
Also, there is an article at http://abcnews.go.com/Health/EyeHealthNews/11-eye-myths-debunked/Story?id=8919023 that points out some of the common myths about eyes. Some of these are included in there, but it also verifies that reading in the dark or watching a TV/computer screen too close doesn’t negatively affect the vision long-term. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Daniel asks…

Is It Possible To Naturally Improve Your Eyesight?

admin answers:

This isn’t much of an answer, but it’s the truth…

Many say YES, you can improve your eyesight naturally with exercises and application of various methods…

Just as many (if not more) say it’s nonsense, and you cannot do anything to combat the natural visual acuity of your eyes…

Mmmmm, what to do…?

I would research on the web (lots of info out there), and decide for yourself. I thought about trying some things, but wasn’t willing to spend over $25, which left me with limited options. Spending several hundred dollars on a “method” for improving eyesight naturally really turned me off.

What finally rang a bell with me was what one doctor posted on the web: If these “methods” really worked, why weren’t more people using them and improving their eyesight cheaply and naturally, and therefore NOT spending millions of dollars on lasik surgery and eyeglasses and contact lenses? Made sense to me..

Ruth asks…

Naturally improve my eyesight?

theres the thing with excersising your eye muscles. but how?

admin answers:

Ive heard carrots…

Chris asks…

Anyone read this book about how to restore your eyesight naturally?

http://www.amazon.com/Relearning-See-Improve-Eyesight-Naturally/dp/1556433417/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1250541747&sr=1-1
it actually got 5 stars so im wondering if anyone tried it?

thanks
did it really help if you read it?

admin answers:

I read this book before. But I think “vision without glasses’ is much better as it gave me good results. I did some of the exercises from it and my vision has drastically improved. Now my left eye has -1 compared to my previous -3.5. So I’m sure that if you do these exercises daily and eat vitamin A rich foods, then you can achieve good eyesight.

Your Questions About Can Eyesight Improve Naturally

Ruth asks…

Can I still wear glasses while trying to improve my eyesight naturally?

should I stop wearing them

admin answers:

You’re not going to improve your eyesight “naturally”, you’re just going to throw time and money away. But if that’s your thing, then by all means go for it.

Jenny asks…

Improving eyesight naturally?

Is it possible to improve your vision to near 20/20 vision? How, what techniques did you use? Any real, personal experiences here?

Please do not say it’s not possible to improve your eyesight (myopic) because our eyes are fixed in an elongated shape and it cannot be changed. At the start of last year, my eyes were examined and they were RH eye: -3.25, LH: -2.75 wiith -0.5 astigmatism. (My previous prescription was -2.75 in both eyes with mild astigmatism)

Then, towards the end of last year around end of October, after my university exams, I stopped wearing my glasses because throughout the year, I constantly find slight discomfort from wearing them. I started looking at distant green things, and a *little* bit of eye exercies, and also, one thing I forgot to mention is that, the main reason I stopped wearing them was I developed double vision which worsens after wearing them.

After, about 2 weeks of not wearing my glasses, I decided to go and see the optometrist and have my vision checked. To my surprise, my new prescription decreased to RH:-2.25(with -0.25 astigmatism) and LH:-1.75 (-0.5 astigmatism). I decided to wait and not get glasses as I was going overseas to asia for a holiday, and I thought I might get glasses over there as they are less expensive. I stopped wearing glasses, and spend slightly more time outdoors playing sports as my exams were over.

Around early December, I had my eyes examined in my holidays in China, and once again, my prescription decreased to RH:-1.5, and LH:-1.25 with similiar astigmatism.I decided to buy two top quality glasses from Levis, which costed quite a lot, and I started wearing the glasses. On February, back from my holidays, I decided to go back to my regular optometrst to have my eyes examined to confirm my prescription, and to his surprise, the presciption on my glasses was indeed RH:-1.5, and LH:-1.25 (with mild astigmatism). I asked him why my eyesight improved, and he cannot quite explain why either, he suggested maybe there was some sort of strain in my eyes when we did the examinations, which caused a non accurate prescription.

I am currently a tertiary student, and I got glasses ever since I was 13. I think my first prescription was around -1.75 with no astigmatism, and about one year later, it changed to -2.75, which was stable till start of last year.

Can someone please help explain this eyesight change?
My opinion is maybe when I went to get my first prescription checked, my vision was blurry because I was suffering from computer vision syndrome. And hence, a false prescription?

Or because, I was a teenager, and my eyesight was constantly changing?

Right now, my glasses is once again feeling a bit uncomfortable, and I always have trouble wearing contacts(I tried 4 types a already). So, do you think it’s still possible for my eyesight to improve my eyesight to 20/20 if I stopped waering my glasses? Has anyone been there and done that? And can anyone suggestions why my eyesight changed for the better?

Any helpful comments will be very much appreciated! Thank you :)
@ LSN: Then can you explain why my eyesight improved (without using artifical methods)?
@ Barbara:
Yea, I will, thanks! Although now, since my busy tertiary studies have began again, I have to wear contact lens to see clearly, and haven’t noticed any big vision improvements.

I still found my eyeglasses with prescription: RH eye:-1.5, cyl:-0.25 and Lh eye:-1.25,cyl:-0.5 a bit uncomfortable, especially when Im reading, I cant seem to concentrate.

Ive been to the optometrist 4 times in just over 3 months, and as a tertiary student with a tight budget, I cant afford to make too many appointments for another new pair of glasses, so I decided to order contact lens online instead.

I ordered contact lens online with a prescription of -1.25 with my usual base curve, and so far, although a little blurry, its working great. I am planning to stop wearing glasses again in my long summer holidays to see if my eyesight improves again, which I hope it does because I have negative visual experiences with them! ~ Ty.

I guess you are right. Who could argue with that?

Steven asks…

improving eyesight naturally if one eye is strained?

My right eye is strained and if i close my left eye, its pretty blurry and shortsighted…but my left eye is not too bad..

just wondering if anyone knows, apart from prescription glasses and laser eye surgery, if theres anyway to improve eyesight naturally, or strengthen the eye up again? is it possible, with eye exercises, even with some vitamins/supplements etc?

admin answers:

When you get up in the AM keep you good eye shut and make the weak eye work harder

Ruth asks…

Is it possible to improve vision naturally with exercises or other ways?

I’ve seen books and online programs that claim to improve eyesight

admin answers:

This is some health benefit to training your eyes if you have slightly imperfect vision, you may be able to correct it simply with exrecises. I have read biographies about people doing just that, but most people don’t want to spend extra time each day exercising their eyes.

William asks…

Are there any ways of naturally improving eyesight?

I am trying to cure my nearsightedness instead of having to get glasses and or surgery. Are there any things I can try like eye exercises, foods, drugs? Please answer only if you know of anything?

admin answers:

No.

Get laser surgery. It only cost me about $4000, and I had a relatively high correction profile.
