Your Questions About For Those Who Wait Lyrics

April 25, 2013

Robert asks…

For all of you who love U2 and reading into their lyrics…What do you think about this?

I love the band U2 I have listened to them since I was in the womb.
What I like the most is the lyrics to their songs. They are brilliant and beautifully written. I can’t pick a favorite but one of them that catches my ear is Love is Blindness. I’m curious to see how all of you interpreted those lyrics, and what you think about them. I will be anxiously awaiting your answers…

PS they have a new CD on the way this year… I can’t wait!!!

admin answers:

The lyrics for love is blindness seem to me to be about overlooking the faults of the person you’re in love with and not caring, “Love is blindness, I Don’t want to see” Its like they’re saying when you really love someone you’re not likely to want to know whats wrong with them, you just love them anyway.

Can’t wait for the new album btw!!!! Just 47 more days.

William asks…

Should the people who enjoy the lyrics in death metal see counselors?

I was just wondering because some of the stuff is pretty gross. Now, if you told your friends “I like listening to songs with lyrics about raping little boys, they get me pumped up!” they would probably be creeped out. So shouldn’t it be the same for liking songs about raping and murdering people? Since those are just as terrible crimes.

Here are some lyrics from a song I found from a Cannibal Corpse song.

No escape from your fate
Destined to be mine
Every night I wait to see
In the night, watching
Stalking your every move
I know when you’re alone
All alone

Tied tight to the bed
Legs spread open
Bruised flesh, lacerations
Skin stained with blood
I’m the only one you love
I feel her heart beating
my knife deep inside
Her crotch is bleeding

She liked the way it felt inside her
Fucking her, harder, harder

She liked the way it felt inside her
Fucking her, harder, harder

Stick it in
Rip the skin
Carve and twist
Torn flesh
From behind
I cut her crotch
In her ass I stuck my cock
Killing as I cum

admin answers:

Well, same thing with slasher movies right “I like movies where teenage sluts get hacked up with machetes” kind of the same thing right? Cannibal Corpse is just the musical equivalent of a mindless slasher movie, it’s not meant to be taken seriously.

I really have no idea how I would tell people I like the song Necropedophile, I just like brutal mindless horror music every now and then, most of the time I can’t tell what they’re saying anyway, I just like the sound of the music, it’s like there’s no lyrics at all, I never listen to them.

Thomas asks…

What do you think of these lyrics?

They say there’s a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it’s better but I say it ain’t
I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
Sinners are much more fun…
And only the good die young

Billy Joel’s “Only The Good Die Young”

admin answers:

I remember that song!
I think he is wrong, I have friends that are unsaved and friends that are saved… The unsaved cry more.
But he is right that only the good die young, it shows that God is long suffering to those who have yet to accept him. You see, no one will be able to stand before God one day and say that God didn’t give them time. The saved are ready to go when their purpose is fulfilled.

Richard asks…

Where can I find the Led Zeppelin solo for Rock and Roll?

My band is covering this song and there’s obviously a Frankensteined sort of job going on in for the guitar solo because my guitarist canNOT find the correct tabs for it ANYWHERE (you know what I’m talking about, the high-pitched, awesome solo in the breakdown? Yeah, we need that.)

Does ANYONE know where we can find a CORRECT version of these tabs? She’s already looked all over for it so posting any old tab you find on generic tab sites aren’t going to help, I’m sure she’s already seen them. Thank you so much.
She DID improvise something but she doesn’t wanna have to do that, we want the exact solo.

admin answers:

She might have to learn it the old fashioned way…either by ear or improvise a solo.

Betty asks…

Rock songs with two electric guitar parts?

My friend and I would like to learn a song with parts for each of us that would sound awesome when played together.

We have electric guitars, and would like to keep them tuned to the standard E-B-G-D-A-E tuning. We also would like for the song to be fairly well known so that if we play for our other friends, they can recognize it. We are of low-to-moderate experience level and have each been playing for about a year. Neither of us play bass.

All suggestions are welcome.
Even moreso if you provide the link to a tab.
Thank you very much in advance!

Ken asks…

What are some good lyrics that describe the hurt of having a broken heart?

So I‘m looking for song lyrics, NOT QUOTES that could describe how someone would feel when their heart has been broken. The song doesn’t have to be about broken hearts, just the certain lyric from that song; here are some examples…

I bleed for the second time tonight. Holding the love that’s in my mind. If only my love could be with you. If only this pain died too.” (Dear Angel – April Sixth)

“Torn apart as the seams of my dreams turn to tears. Run away try and find that safe place you can hide, it’s the best place to be when you’re feeling like me.” (All These Things I Hate – Bullet For My Valentine)

I told myself I won’t miss you, but I remember what it feels like beside you.” (Better Than Me – Hinder)

I‘m falling apart. I‘m barely breathing, with a broken heart that’s still beating and the pain that is healing is agony.” (Broken – Lifehouse)

Tears don’t fall, they crash around me.” – (Tears Don’t Fall – Bullet For My Valentine)

“This time was different, felt like I was just a victim and it cut me like a knife when you walked out of my life. Now I‘m in this condition and I‘ve got all the symptoms of a girl with a broken heart, but no matter what you’ll never see me cry.” (Cry – Rihanna)

“You’re everything to me, no more as I wake from this perfect dream. This is the end. It has come to this, one last kiss. I‘ll lose myself in anguish for tonight, help me get over you. Broken pieces will not mend. One last false apology, help me get over you.” (Apology – Alesana)

Your Questions About If You Choose To Pull The Trigger

April 22, 2013

Mandy asks…

Indian family is making me depressed..should I get married?

i feel like the only one! when i mean marriage i mean an arrange marriage, for the white ppl: arranged marraige isnt necessarily a forced marriage…ur family picks sum1 for u meet them SUPERVISED by ur/his family, and in a week or 2ish u have to decide if u want to get married………………….& u rnt allowed to choose ur life partner on ur own…no dating… it still sucks

but yea back to my ?, parents like this (this is a previous ? u can answer it seperately if u want to cuz yea i posted this twice cuz i dont have any1 to vent to):im hardly allowed to do anything other kids my age are allowed to do, (i dont mean just hanging out i mean EVERYTHING….like even traveling alone and a lot of teenagers have done that…or even taking a walk alone in the daytime in my SAFE neighborhood, my dad will even freak out if i step out of the house for 2 seconds)

if i am allowed to hang out w/o there being a big deal i can only hang out w/ the other indian kids in the community & we’re not even that good friends!……my family doesnt understand the concept of an american social life…instead i HAVE TO spend every weekend/weekday w/ them or im selfish

the onle thing i am allowed and HAVE to do is go to my grandma’s house everyday for dinner….u know the whole joint family thing where you have to hang out w/ family, family and only family!

i hate arranged marriages and ill regret it if i never get to be independent in my life BUT im seriously considering it now…and asap like @ 20 (cant go to a university not doing good enough…tried tho so dont say tht)

admin answers:

It sounds to me like you’re willing to jump from the frying pan into the fire. Why would you want to get married to someone from the same culture as your father, if your “husband” will probably end up treating you the exact same way; as a possession? Makes NO sense to me.

And, since you aren’t allowed to experience the American culture, your ONLY other option is to get some schooling, start working and MOVE away from your family. You don’t have to go to college. You can pick a short (one year, more or less) technical career and start working soon. There are so many choices: medical assistant, dental assistant, veterinary assistant, receptionist, computer technician, etc. Find one you like and GO FOR IT.

If you’re waiting for “someone” to “save” you, you’ll become an old woman and never accomplish anything. As long as you depend on someone else, they will always have control over you. You need to find someone you can trust (whether a family member or friend) who will help/support you. Maybe consider moving out with a few friends so you can all rent a house/apartment together and share expenses. You can work as a waitress, clerk, dog-walker, house-cleaner, etc. To help pay your schooling. It may sound too hard for you (because of your culture- you’ve been “taken care of” all your life) but hundreds of thousand of people have done it before you and hundreds of thousand people will do it after you, so YOU can do it too.

Make plans, then start your new life, before it’s too late. Before you give up and lose your spirit. As far as being afraid of your father, you are in the U.S.A., where you are legally an adult and you are FREE to do as you wish. If your father tries to hurt you or stop you from doing what you want, the LAW is there to protect you. There is NOTHING WRONG with wanting to live the life that God GAVE YOU. You were not born in order for your father to “live HIS life again,” understand?

In other words, you are not the first Indian/Muslim woman to feel this way; not the first to break away from tradition, and you will not be the first one to start a new, FREE life. So just do it… And start living!

Steven asks…

How is the ‘free gift of salvation’ not extortion?

Extortion–”the act or practise of wrestling anything from a person by force, by threats, or by any undue exercise of power”

Jesus says to us, I’ve come to save you! Believe in me! Believe that I am God’s Son!
Wait a minute. Save me? Save me from what? Oh, that’s right. Hell. The place of eternal torture and punishment that he created for the purpose of punishing those who choose not to worship him.

God says he will send us to hell if we don’t worship and obey him. He basically puts a gun to our head (but instead of it being a one time death sort of thing, it is torture for eternity) and says we’ve committed a crime and so must do what he wants or he’ll pull the trigger.

Please explain to me how this is a “gift,” how on earth it is “free” and how it is Not extortion.
Library Occupied, I’m not entirely certain what I believe. I was a Christian for a long time, now I’m hoping off the fence of uncertainty to the atheist side.
Nope, I’ve never asked this question before.
Rebecca, God created the tree of knowledge, God created Satan, God kicked him out of heaven and caused him to roam the earth, God made it possible in every way for us to sin. Then tells us the way out of that sin, that he knew would happen, is to give him our everything so he won’t send us to hell, which he created! He is the judge, so yes he does send us to hell. He doesn’t have to. He could forgive us because he loves us, but he is so blood thirsty that he demanded sacrifice, and still our worship on top of that.
Romans 3… “Did God force you to believe in the Gospel of Christ Jesus? His incarnation in the flesh?, His sacrificial act?, and His resurrection? Did God hurt or scared you to death (extorts) you?”

Yes he does do that to us. Thats the way the gift of salvation is presented by most street preachers. Hell preaching. “If you aren’t saved you‘ll burn in hell! Come and be saved!!” The wrestling (in regards to the definition of extortion) is threatening hell. It IS extortion unless you believe that anyone who does not believe goes to heaven too. It isn’t a free choice if there is an ultimatum.

Interesting question. If one is indeed given free will, it does seem a tad unfair to have only these two stark choices.

Lisa asks…

How is suicide selfish?

I asked a question earlier about how I plan to kill myself in a few years, and everyone proceeded to call me a coward for that.
How is suicide cowardly? do YOU have the balls to slash your wrists? do YOU have the guts to stick a shotgun in your mouth and pull the trigger? because its sooo easy apparently. Aside from that, it’s not like any of us have any obligation to this life, sure we have family obligations but that’s it. None of us asked to be born but yet here we are, and if you choose not to participate in this life you‘re a coward? what?
And why does everyone think they have any say and authority over others life’s? if it’s not hurting you or anyone else then let a person do what they want with their life, jesus it’s so simple. If someone wants to kill themselves privately, LET THEM, its their goddamn life and YOU do not have any credibility or privilege to justify someones death and call them a coward. Who the hell are you to say that about someone?

How about this, who do you think is more cowardly: Someone who genuinely doesn’t want to live anymore and commits suicide, or someone who rapes and kills your daughter and runs away?. You people need to stop passing judgments on others, as if you are the golden standard of a human being that we should all strive to be.

Still think suicide is selfish? enlighten me.
Happy Hiram: You failed to enlighten me, you are not the intelectually sound individual you think yourself to be. And at no point in my paragraph did I say “suicide prevents rapes and murders”.
Houston, we have a problem: Is that right? how about this. Give me reasons why one should NOT commit suicide and instead continue living?
Kelly: “If one refuses the gift of life, they are nothing but a spoiled child acting out because it wasn’t what they wanted.”

Since when are we obligated to accept gifts? when someone gives you a gift, are you not allowed to say no? what a total bullshit answer, nice try.

admin answers:

You want to know why people say suicide is selfish?

It’s because people feel morally obligated to keep people from killing themselves and the necessity to ensure life, but at the same time they can’t think of enough logic and reason to keep that person alive.

For example.
Let’s say someone’s life sucks, no one like’s them, they’re a completely worthless bum, and for all intensive purposes they should die. HOWEVER! No one’s going to say, alright, I understand where you’re coming from, here let me help you kill yourself.

Nah they’re going to be moral and try keep that person alive.

But then they hit that wall, oh wait, there’s no actual good “reason” or “logic” to help keep this person alive.
So then they go for the cheap arguments like, “Oh suicide is selfish”, “You’ll make people sad”, and “Everything’ll be okay”.

So there’s where that comes from, it’s a cheap emotionally driven argument for lack of a better one.

However as a moral person I’m also obligated to try and help you like everyone else.

Let’s see, why shouldn’t you kill yourself?
Well from a personal point of view, I’m glad I never succeeded.
Oh and as the future savior of the World, the World’s glad I didn’t either.

It’s also unproductive. You can’t benefit society when you’re dead (those some people actually can, but yeah…). In any case, have you repaid society for the cost of your existence yet? It’s impolite to leave this world without doing more than you’ve taken from it.

Oh and there’s a lot of stupid people in this world.
I don’t know you’re level of intelligence, but if you’re remotley smart, there’s no need to further make this world one sided with imbeciles.

And yeah.
I probably could think of more reasons, but I’m lazy.

Your Questions About For Those In Peril On The Sea

April 21, 2013

Charles asks…

What is the signifcance of the Mayflower Compact?

The Pilgrim’s journey to America began in 1608 when they were forced to leave their native England for Holland. Their religious beliefs were in conflict with those of England’s Anglican Church. As the Anglican Church and the monarchy of King James I were one, the Pilgrim’s opposition could be interpreted as treason; consequently, they felt it prudent to leave the country.

By 1620, the Pilgrim’s experience in Holland had gone sour and they returned to England with the objective of making passage to America.

Problems plagued their departure from the start. Leaving Southampton on August 5 aboard two ships (the Mayflower and the Speedwell) they were forced back when the Speedwell began to leak. A second attempt was thwarted when the Speedwell again began to leak and again the hapless Pilgrims returned to port.

Finally, after abandoning the Speedwell, 102 Pilgrim passengers departed from Plymouth aboard the Mayflower on September 6. The intended destination was Virginia where they planned to start a colony. After a journey of 66 days they made landfall at Cape Cod near present-day Provincetown – more than 600 miles off course.

William Bradford was a prominent member of the expedition and would soon be elected governor of the Plymouth Colony. He kept a record of the journey and we join his story as the Mayflower sails out of Plymouth: (The Old English of the original account has been modernized)

“…they put to sea again with a prosperous wind, which continued several days together, which was some encouragement unto them; yet according to the usual manner many were afflicted with seasickness.

And I may mention here a special work of God’s providence. There was a proud and very profane young man; one of the sea-men, of a lusty, able body, which made him the more haughty; he would always be condemning the poor people in their sickness, and cursing them daily with grievous execrations, and told them, that he hoped to help to cast half of them over board before they came to

their journey’s end, and to make merry with what they had; and if he were by any gently reproved, he would curse and swear most bitterly. But it pleased God before they came half seas over, to smite this young man with a grievous disease, of which he died in a desperate manner, and so was himself the first that was thrown overboard. Thus his curses fell on his own head; and it was an astonishment to all his fellows, for they noted it to be the just hand of God upon him.

After they had enjoyed fair winds and weather, they encountered many times, crosswinds, and met with many fierce storms, with which the ship was thoroughly shaken, and her upper works made very leaky; and one of the main beams amidships was downed and cracked, which put them in some fear that the ship could not be able to perform the voyage. So some of the chiefs of the company, perceiving the mariners to fear the condition of the ship, as appeared by their mutterings, they entered into serious consultation with the master and other officers of the ship, to consider whether to return, rather than to cast themselves into desperate and inevitable peril. And truly there was great distraction and difference of opinion amongst the mariners themselves.

But in examining of all opinions, the master and others affirmed they knew the ship to be strong and firm underwater; and for the buckling of the main beam, there was a great iron screw the passengers brought out of Holland, which would raise the beam into its place; which was done. The carpenter and master affirmed that with a post put under it, set firm in the lower deck, and other ways bound, he would make it sufficient. And as for the decks and upper works they would caulk them as well as they could, and though with the working of the ship they would not long hold firm, they would be safe as long as they did not over-stress her with sails.

So they committed themselves to the will of God, and resolved to proceed. In many of these storms the winds were so fierce, and the seas so high, as they could not bear a knot of sail, but were forced to heave to (face into the wind to stop the ship), for many days together. And in one of them, as they thus lay hove to, in a mighty storm, a strapping young man (called John Howland) was, with a lurch of the ship thrown into the sea; but it pleased God that he caught hold of the ropes which hung overboard. He held his hold (though he was many feet under water) till he was hauled up by the same rope to the brim of the water, and then with a boathook and other means got into the ship again, and his life saved.

In all this voyage there died but one of the passengers, which was William Butten, a youth, servant to Samuel Fuller, when they drew near the coast.

…after long beating at sea they fell with that land which is called Cape Cod: they were not a little joyful! After some deliberation amongst themselves and with the master of the ship, they resolved to sail southward to find someplace about Hudson’s river for their habitation. But after they had sailed that course about half a day, they fell amongst dangerous shoals and roaring breakers, and resolved to bear up again for the Cape, and thought themselves happy to get out of those dangers before night overtook them.

Being thus arrived in a good harbor and brought safe to land, they fell upon their knees and blessed the God of heaven, who had brought them over the vast and furious ocean, and delivered them from all the perils and miseries thereof.”

William Bradford’s account appears in: Davis, William, T. (ed), Bradford’s History of Plymouth Plantation, 1606-1646 (1908); Morrison, Samuel Eliot, Builders of the Bay Colony (1930).
