Your Questions About For Those About To Rock Tab

December 23, 2012

James asks…

What are some easy rock/metal songs to learn on guitar?

Im learning how to play guitar by myself. I have an acoustic and an electric with a small amp. What are some songs that are easy but that people will instantly recognize? Also something that would impress people but is still within my skill range? I’ve been playing for about a year now just by looking up guitar tabs for songs that i like, but I need some song suggestions. Can anyone help?

admin answers:

Try “for whom the bell tolls” by metallica
its a great song and easy to learn

Carol asks…

Need help w/ acoustic guitar?

I just have a quick question.
I just started playing the acoustic about 2 weeks ago. I have learned many chords since.

My only problem is that when I go online to get Tabs for songs i like, the are done as
rather than the
eadgbe that i am used to
what is the difference.

I know when i play the other as if it was in the eadgbe format it sounds awful, and nothing like the song…

would that be for electric guitar?

Also, does anyone know of a good Tab website for acoustic-rock?

admin answers:

You reference drop D tuning……where you tune the low E string down one octave to a ‘D’……….would it sound better on an electric guitar vs. Acoustic…..yes

Mandy asks…

What is that song from school of rock? Not the main one… its a couple chords/notes that Jack Black plays?

while sitting on a desk and leaning up against a chalk board and he only plays it for about 15 seconds. This is the time of the movie when the kids come up and show him the shirt that says “School of Rock” and tell him that this should be the name of the band. It sounds like a very good song and if it is not a real song someone might want to tab it. Someone asked this question two months ago but maybe the longer description will help. Thanks

admin answers:

He was performing the theme song from an Internet comedy series Computerman (2003), starring… Jack Black

Your Questions About An Impaired Immune System

Jenny asks…

Marijuana Survey (edited for easy reading)?

For those with ADD and other issues with doing research, I’m listing a much easier reference in a simply image :

This time line image takes 2 minutes to read and brings those that have been lied to for years up to date on the actual facts behind the law on Marijuana. For those that want more details read the research sources listed below. The resources are from Government, University and Medical sources and are all reputable.

(Please inform yourself through the reputable resources from our own government, medical research and major universities such as Harvard before making your comment.
Note: Much of what “some” Americans know about Marijuana is misinformation for the purpose of fighting hemp production (which grows 10x faster than trees and is a threat to the forestry industry) and big pharma that wants you on their drugs.

The survey:
1. Do you smoke (explain how much or if at all)
2. Do you want it legalized

A new report from the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) pegs the costs of marijuana law enforcement in the United States at $7.6 billion annually and finds that escalating marijuana arrests over the past two decades have failed to have any impact on marijuana use rates or other indicators chosen by drug enforcers to measure “success” in the war on drugs. What marijuana law enforcement has accomplished, the study found, is hundreds of thousands of arrests each year, with the burden of criminal sanctions borne disproportionately by the young and the non-white.
Current marijuana polices, which rely heavily on criminal penalties, are “wholly ineffective at controlling the use and sale of marijuana,” the study concluded.

For the comment about Asthma:

Smoking cigarettes, mowing and a number of other things are also bad for asthma, but would you spend 7 billion a year and place millions of otherwise law abiding citizens in jail for smoking cigs or mowing their yard?
For the person commenting on driving:

I personally don’t want to drive after smoking, but reliable research that I’ve provided shows that there is no significant difference in the ability of to drive while high contrasted with those that do not. In the same research it showed a significant difference in those that were drinking (note: they had more accidents and drove much faster while drinking.. where those smoking drove slower and were more cautious)
For the person that doesn’t like the sources:

Harvard, US Government, etc. are not biased resources. I showed the resources because of the reputation and legitimacy of them.

If you want to argue against Harvard and the like then go right ahead. Ill stick to peer reviewed research.

John asks…

Ongoing sickness?

Around two or more months ago I started getting cold symptoms and feeling unwell with temperature/fever, headaches, fatigue, etc., and I have been feeling ill ever since; I now have a lung infection and I just don’t feel normal at all. My ears are blocked, I have frequent headaches, am very tired and generally feel like I have a constant cold, on top of the infection, and also my digestive system doesn’t feel right. Before this I seldom got sick, and although I had severe asthma at a very young age I have not had any chest problems at all for at least ten or eleven years. I am on antibiotics for the chest infection but I still feel ill. I am eighteen-years-old and a strict vegan, and I don’t smoke or drink. The only other health problem I have is a vitamin B12 deficiency for which I have injections, and although my injections are not up to date I don’t think it would be affecting me like this as it never ever has before. It is as though my immune system has stopped working! :(

I will go back to the doctor next week if it has not cleared up, but I wonder if anybody has any suggestions as to why it might be, or if anyone has any similar experiences? Can lack of B12 impair the immune system, or could it perhaps be a parasite?

admin answers:

On going sickness can well be cured by cosulting a good physician and some tests done to know the specificity .Apart from that, to stay away fron such syndromes you can do pranayama’s from a expert as this holds the key to a stressfull and healthy life along with a healthy diet.Lung function can well be cured with special breathing processes that are learnt in yoga.

Your Questions About An Impaired Use Of Language

December 22, 2012

James asks…

I using Spanish to exclude non-latinos a form of racism?

America has many immigrants from many different countries. And just as many languages are spoken. Yet the hispanics are able to communicate amongst themselves using spanish, which is the defacto language of latinos. Is this racism?

“Racial Discrimination – any distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on an equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field of public life.”
Heh. Look at my heading. I should learn English too.

admin answers:

That would apply also to Chinese, Haitians, Japanese, etc, etc

Robert asks…

Do I have any chance?

I’m now a current a college student at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have a average GPA. I have 50 hours of credit, majoring in General Biology so I can transfer to community college out of the state which have a program and then hoping to transfer to RIT(Rochester institution of technology) to major in Bioinformatics or Biotechnology. I’m just wonder if I have any chance of getting in because it seem like a very good school for me. Also I’m hearing impaired, the school I’m going to in New Orleans doesn’t have the right service for disability students, my language are Sign English and I don’t really use American Sign Language because I never learned it until I started at Delgado. My weakest are in English since most of the teachers and the lab don’t seem to be working well with me, the advisor kept putting me in wrong classes over and over. It seem like the advisor don’t care. It make me wonder if I really need to move to get a good education for myself and something good for myself for once. All I want is to get a great education, social with people who are hearing and hearing impaired, learn many new things on my own, and learn on my own. Thank you for taking your time to read and any tips will be great!

admin answers:

Don’t even listen to that other person. Give up your dreams? That’s the most ridiculous piece of advice I’ve ever heard! Sometimes you need to be realistic, but that doesn’t always include giving up your dreams; it just means that sometimes, you need to realize that achieving your dreams will be difficult, but by no means impossible.
RIT is well within your aims. It’s an average school in terms of admissions, but you can still get an excellent education there. I don’t know what kind of help you could get there in terms of your hearing impairment, sorry. But I think you can do it.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. Nothing is impossible. I encourage you to apply, even if you don’t think you will be admitted. I hate to sound cliche, but I just have to say it: you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
I honestly believe that you can do this. I wish you the best of luck, and I sincerely hope that you are admitted. :)

Mandy asks…

Why do my classmates laugh when I make an oral presentation?

I am very shy, but I’m trying to get better grades. For that I need to make oral presentations. But I’m an immigrant so I’m speaking with an accent. Whenever I speak in front of a class or raise my hand, some people start laughing. I’m not sure what is so funny, maybe my body language (sometimes my hands shake) or my use of grammar or my accent.

But it really impairs my ability to do presentations. I was thinking if I know why they laugh, what’s the motivation behind it, I wouldn’t be so affected by it. Because objectively it’s not very funny.

Any thoughts would be really appreciated! Thanks!

admin answers:

Don’t worry about it. Sometimes some people can be just plain mean even if it isn’t funny, Just do your best and focus on your presentation, If you’re worried about looking at them, just imagine them as teddy bears. Good luck. ^^

Your Questions About An Impaired Use Of Language Is Known As

December 21, 2012

Sharon asks…

What Do you Think Of This Beginning? Does It Make You Want To Read More?

Harry’s date, as opposed to his other dates, went pretty well. He had pointed out the mistakes he made accidentally on the last ones and encouraged himself to build up his confidence anew; it was impaired by the girls who had turned him down. Harry was positively sure nothing could ruin it this time as he’d taken precautions against everything that might. His date had improved his temper entirely that anyone that was used to his old attitude would have noticed the change in his behavior. Harry did not think for a second that his exaggerated courage could turn out to be a lethal weapon to his relationship. His parents knew that and wanted to warn him, though he was already warned, but he tended to ignore anyone who tried to admonish him.

“Harry, I know you’re in love- I acted the same when I was in your age, but maybe you take it a bit too seriously? You sound as if you’re going to marry her.” A smile cracked his face as he thought of what he’d said. “Which I’m sure you’re not…

Billy, Harry’s father, mumbled in a low voice. Harry broke him off mid-sentence and put aside the arm his father had curled around his neck to hug him.

“Oh yes I am!” Harry said, emphasizing each word. “If you think it’s not serious- you’re incorrect!” he continued in the same level of tune.
Billy started at him for a long moment, repeating the words in his mind as if he had spoken them in a foreign language. He opened his mouth to reply but Harry pushed his palms down against the mattress to get up, angling his body towards the door.

“Sit down!” Harry commanded as Harry’s butt was lifted a few inches off the sheet. “IT’S AN ORDER” he shouted, reaching out to grab his arm. His eyebrows pulled together and darkened his stare as his forehead puckered up into tiny creases that accentuated the frown lines across it.

“Never, but never ignore me. Have I made myself clear?” Billy asked, holding up a finger as if to reprove him.

“Yes, sir” Harry answered, making a military salute and looked down at the pavement that was shaded by his father’s mighty figure. He let his right leg hang off the bed, swinging back and forth while the left one was folded under his butt, and fiddled with his necklace, pretending to be listening.

“Look son” Billy began, Harry rolled his eyes, making the “whatever-you-say” expression, could not wait for his boring lecture to come to an end. “I know it’s the first time you unexpectedly enjoy dating, but ignoring your friends? Your family? I’m sure she doesn’t want you to do that too…”

admin answers:

I am trying to be honest here so don’t try and let it get you down too much but this is not a beginning that would make me want to read the book more. It’s not a bad passage at all, it’s just not what I would use for the start of a book, there’s not reason why with a bit of tweaking you couldn’t use it later.

Who is the main character here in this book, is it harry? I don’t think many people will find a teenage boy wanting to marry a girl from a first date relatable, it’s not very realistic, sure a teenage boy a bit obsessive with his first good date but I think marry is a little bit extreme.

Also there are a few parts that are a little bit confusing, I think you needs to proof read e.g. “”Sit down!” Harry commanded as Harry’s butt was lifted” is that meant to be “sit down” bill commanded?

Another extreme section is the way his dad reacts, it’s very OTT considering his son has done nothing wrong. If he is meant to be like that, very bad tempered then that’s fine but there needs to be more of a gradual lead in perhaps harry doesn’t listen to him or he answers back a bit ETC think of fights you have had with your parents and how they escalated.

If this story is going to be focused on harry and his date personally I would start the story with one of harry’s bad dates that you mention at the start and put this passage in somewhere later. Perhaps start it with harry in a really embarrassing situation and then go back and explain to the audience what happened over the date to cause that. The more bizarre and cringworthy the situation, the bigger the laugh factor and the more the audience will want to find out what happened.

Another way of starting the story in a way that would hook the audience in would be perhaps to start it with a fight with Harry and Bill and let the plot unfold this way.

But to me at the moment a story that started with a teenage boy wanting to marry a girl he had just met would be a book shutter it just doesn’t have that hook

Thomas asks…

Is this story I wrote a good example of irony (long)?

I wrote a paper for my junior honors English class. This is the rough draft, but we are supposed to write a story that uses irony. She, my teacher also told us to write something foreign to us. We will be reading these aloud, so dont worry about the format. Please let me know if I did this correctly, and critique it as well. Thanks!

“Dancing is a Type of Love, Love without Pain”

The answer to the question you have following such an insignificant title is the hope in one individual taking something from it.

I took a night for myself. It isn’t everyday I love a stranger. I loved her for all the wrong reasons. Right?

A brilliantly dark room occupied by music is where i want to live. Her name is unimportant, but her ferocity is bold. Much like a winter night, her intentions are cold. Behind those brown eyes lies temptation, but in front of those brown eyes I found myself.

She had beauty that set her apart from everyone else at the club. Her hair was red and flowed harmoniously to every natural curve of her body. An invigorating scent flooded my nostrils and I was impaired. I was now live bait dangling from the end of desire’s hook.

“Come here often?”, I said.
As often as necessary.” Her voice penetrated my ears with such force that i was momentarily deaf.
I heard not her next few statements, but felt myself caught up in the voluptuous movements of her lips.
“Would you like to dance?”
I took the motion as a yes and followed after her swiftly.

She began moving. Well everything but her eyes, which were locked into my own. I know what I wanted from the start, which was beginning to look very possible. As if I needed to be seduced, she lightly grazed her beautiful body onto mine. The only thing in our way was paper thing clothing. All it did was prevent direct contact, besides, an imagination is what gets most men through much of their lives. The movement was quickly followed by movements of my own. Dancing isn’t it? She smiled at my inexperience on the dance floor, but what she didn’t know is that i had a lifetime of experience in other areas to make up for it.

We danced for hours, losing track of our time, body, and mind. I could not remember a single song I had heard that night. I could tell she felt as if she was in the driver’s seat. I found a devilish grin overtake my face at the thought of this. Oh how I had been here so many times before…

She was different than the other girls. I will have a hard time letting this one go.

I hadn’t yet heard a name, but she didn’t know mine either. We had spent the last 5 hours talking in a different language, body language, and it was clear what we were both saying.

The moon shone when the doors of the nightclub were behind us… still, a word hasn’t left either of our mouths. She follows me to my car and gets in.

Next thing I know we are at her apartment… I never take a woman to my apartment. As soon as I turn back around from closing and locking the door i find her body, as apparent as the sun in a clear, blue sky. The light hits half of her body, as if i was getting a preview. She was the most beautiful sight to ever hit my eyes. For the first time in my life i felt i was in love. Well with her body at least.

We spent a night above the covers… swimming like two fish out of water. Two bodies intermingled so tightly that it felt as if we were one. Hours and hours until finally it was over. I dreamed beautifully that night. Something about a dove over open water…

I awoke, happily seeing she was still asleep. I made my escape, which had became a Sunday morning ritual. As soon as I touched that door knob i felt something so fast that it was inexplicable. It doesn’t matter though, because it was a bullet through the back of my head. Dead I fell to the floor, put to sleep after years of longing for it.

Her name was temptation and i had had my final dance with her.
I am trying not to be too dramatic with it… it is a narrative expressing the main character’s night on the town.

Your Questions About An Impaired Use Of Language

December 20, 2012

Helen asks…

Y’know how speaking to a dog in complete sentance helps it understands things? What about babies?

Okay, what if you spoke in complete sentances and with an extended vocabulary to a baby? You could use that ‘baby talk’ tone of voice, but would listening to proper speech help with the development of its english and whatnot and maybe lead to it speaking sooner (theres new studies showing infants can recognize the language in their surroundings, and which languauge theyll use the most)?

I mean, if you speak normally to a dog often enough, I find that they learn more and can obey commands easier, like theyre learning english. I would think that doing the same for a baby would help its mental development. Im just 14, so I cant exactly try this experiment for myself on a baby Id be around often.

Hmm…I cant really explain this how I want to, my writing skills seem a bit impaired (I just got up from a nap), but I hope you understand what Im trying to say and can answer my question

no, I dont mean baby talk as opposed to a more normal verbal way of speaking. Like, instead of saying ‘lets go to the park’, would saying ‘lets go have a super fun day at the park’ help the childs development more than the previous statement, as its more complex? You could say either in baby talk and theyd still mean the same thing
You people who have answered (‘cept you, Shenannigans. Thatll be a fun experiment) dont understand what I mean. FORGET BABY TALK, its a variable!!!!! If you use PROPER SENTANCE STRUCTURE and GRAMMER and ALL THAT FUN STUFF, regardless if you vomit ze language at the child in baby talk or not, will it effect their mental development? Like I said earlier, would saying ‘lets go have a super great time at the park’ help the kid learn than just saying ‘lets go to the park’?

Once again,

Aww, wont I be good with children? Lol

admin answers:

There are tons of books that say exactly what you are trying to get across: speaking to a baby with normal, if simplified, sentences is better for them developmentally.

Then again, there are a ton of books that say baby talk is something even mother apes do with their offspring, and is healthy and important for development.

Betty asks…

please help? cant understand olden talk?

okay, so i have to write about half a page on part of lucretia mott’s speech for womens rights, but i cant understand any of the language she used!!! here’s what i have to summarize, and if you could please translate it, it would be totally awesome :D thanks!!!

A new generation of women is now upon the stage, improving the increased opportunities furnished for the acquirement of knowledge. Public education is coming to be regarded the right of the children of a republic. The hill of science is not so difficult of ascent as formerly represented by poets and painters; but by fact and demonstration smoothed down, so as to be accessible to the assumed weak capacity of woman. She is rising in the scale of being through this, as well as other means, and finding heightened pleasure and profit on the right hand and on the left. The study of Physiology, now introduced into our common schools, is engaging her attention, impressing the necessity of the observance of the laws of health. The intellectual Lyceum and instructive lecture room are becoming, to many, more attractive than the theatre and the ball room. The sickly and sentimental novel and pernicious romance are giving place to works, calculated to call forth the benevolent affections and higher nature. It is only by comparison that I would speak commendatory of these works of imagination. The frequent issue of them from the press is to be regretted. Their exciting contents, like stimulating drinks, when long indulged in, enervate the mind, unfitting it for the sober duties of life.

These duties are not to be limited by man. Nor will woman fulfill less her domestic relations, as the faithful companion of her chosen husband, and the fitting mother of her children, because she has a right estimate of her position and her responsibilities. Her self-respect will be increased; preserving the dignity of her being, she will not suffer herself to be degraded into a mere dependent. Nor will her feminine character be impaired. Instances are not few, of woman throwing off the encumbrances which bind her, and going forth in a manner worthy of herself, her creation, and her dignified calling. Did Elizabeth Fry lose any of her feminine qualities by the public walk into which she was called? Having performed the duties of a mother to a large family, feeling that she owed a labor of love to the poor prisoner, she was empowered by Him who sent her forth, to go to kings and crowned heads of the earth, and ask audience of these; and it was granted her. Did she lose the delicacy of woman by her acts? No. Her retiring modesty was characteristic of her to the latest period of her life. It was my privilege to enjoy her society some years ago, and I found all that belonged to the feminine in woman—to true nobility, in a refined and purified moral nature. Is Dorothea Dix throwing off her womanly nature and appearance in the course she is pursuing? In finding duties abroad, has any, “refined man felt that something of beauty has gone forth from her?” To use the contemptuous word applied in the lecture alluded to, is she becoming ” mannish? ” Is she compromising her womanly dignity in going forth to seek to better the condition of the insane and afflicted? Is not a beautiful mind and a retiring modesty still conspicuous in her?

It’s not “olden talk”.. It’s modern English of the kind of formal style they went in for in the 1800s. As the other answerer said, take it slowly, and it’ll be perfectly clear. But I amdit they did like to tell a short story long. It boils down to:

1st para: “Women are getting more opportunities for education and going into public life. They’ve stopped reading trashy romantic novels, which rot the mind.”

2nd para: “It’s rubbish to claim that these new opportunities will make them neglect their responsiblities as wives and mothers, or become less feminine. Look, it didn’t happen to Elizabeth Fry or Dorothea Dix.”

You have the word, and the definitions. I’m confused as to why you are unable to write the sentences, and expect someone else to do so for you. If you could provide additional details as to why you are unable to complete this assignment, or what you have attempted and why that has failed, maybe someone could help you come up with a way to do these yourself, but not do them for you.
