Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Lazy Eye

Maria asks…

Lazy Bulldog??

I have a wonderful bulldog but i am very concerned with her weight. she doesnt ‘look’ overweight but the vet just said to keep an eye on how much i feed her.
I feed her twice a day on weight control Iams and she seems fine with that. I try to get her to exercise everyday and shes really happy to do this but every other day i go for an hour and half long walk with her… she seems fine then and there but after she comes home.. she limps and cries.
This only lasts the night and shes fine after that. Is she just really lazy? and if it was too much for her, wouldnt she of slowed down during the walk?
iv took her a quite a few times now and do you think she will get used to it?
I dont need any reading up on the breed… i have had bulldogs before.. they all have been fine.
Just this girl has been a lot lazier than the others.
I will try changing the food.. my vet just advised me on that.
Im not sure exactly how much she weighs.. its been a while. Thanks though

admin answers:

You didn’t say if she limps on the front or back. Have you had her hips and elbows checked? Displaisia is a common issue with the bully breeds. Also, how old is she? Arthritis is another concern. I do have to agree with the other poster about the feed. Did you know that on dogfoodanalysis.com IAMS rated no better than most store brands? Yet it’s twice the cost! Look inot Natures Variety. It’s a good quality feed. Am including a link to a joint suppliment I use on my bullys. Can’t hurt! Good luck and best wishes!

Robert asks…

How Can I Look Beautiful?

I find so many flaws in me…
freckles.
short, thick hair.
glasses.
too lazy to put on make up.
too lazy to exercise.
too lazy to get off of this freaking computer.
full of fat (but I weigh 88 lbs).
small eyes.
large lips.
fat thighs.
does anyone have any tips on how I can fix any of these flaws? & please don’t give me the “oh, but you’re beautiful” talk. I’m asking you a question, and I’m yearning for an answer.

thanks. x
oh I’m 14 years old and 5 foot 5.
shaawrrtaaay.

admin answers:

Um, personally I think you’re contradicting yourself. If you don’t want to accept the general answer that is that you are beautiful, how else can you look beautiful if your saying your too lazy to put on makeup or to exercise?…

If you want to look beautiful I suggest wearing nice eye makeup especially because you have glasses. Glasses tend to hide your eyes and if you accentuate them with eyeliner and mascara and maybe even a little shadow, your look will improve by a lot!

Large lips can be really attractive, use a nude lip gloss.

And sweetheart those are not flaws, those are simply characteristics that make you YOU.

Thomas asks…

is lasik treatment better or shud i start doing eye exercises to reduce eyesight?

my eyesight is -2 and -4 thought of going for lasik but recently heard of eye exercises so wanted to know which is better

admin answers:

Lasik eye surgery is the big and new thing to do, but no one knows the long term 15-20 year effect as of yet. I am gonna wait till they have done more studies.

Linda asks…

Can I overcome reading glasses through eye exercises?

What exercises would those be?

admin answers:

Very few people (including eye doctors) know enough about this to answer the question intelligently. For examply, Pennybar, is confused. It is true that there is no evidence that eye exercises will help acuity. But that’s not what you asked. You asked whether eye exercises can improve your ability to be less dependent upon reading glasses. This question is related to vision FUNCTION not VISUAL ACUITY. There is MUCH evidence to support the idea that it is possible for people to train their visual systems to FUNCTION better (improve their ability to adjust the focus of the eyes) It is much like the idea of a weight lifter who is very strong. There is nothing wrong with him physically. But he can’t turn a flip like a gymnast. This is like saying my eyes see clearly. There is nothing wrong with them. But then why do I have trouble focusing my eyes well when I read?

Now let’s return to the analogy of the weight lift. Now ask the weight lifter to stand flat footed and jump up and turn a flip. He may look at you and say, “Sorry, I can’t do what you’ve just asked me to do. I don’t know how. No one has ever trained me to use my muscles in that manner.” Same thing some times happens with the eyes. There may not be anything wrong with the eyes but the individual doesn’t have the skills necessary to focus them correctly. But just like a weight lifter can be trained to turn a flip, an individual can be trained to focus the eyes effeciently. That’s what eye exercises do. They teach a person strugggling with their ability to focus how to focus correctly. This can in turn decrease their dependence on reading glasses.

As to what exercises to do? You need to go see an optometrist who is trained in vision development. Google College of Optometrists in Vision Development.

Nancy asks…

What are some good eye exercises to effectively improve eyesight? Should I do these exercises w/ glasses on?

I have near sighted

Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Better Vision

Charles asks…

facial trauma? tmj? jaw problems, chest pain shortness of breath, vision, please help!?

a couple years back, it was a very stressful time and I wasn’t thinking straight and got really frustrated and strained the area on the right side of my face above my eye etc, I did it a few different occasions and well I felt really sick then after and really dizzy and had trouble seeing and talking and my right eye was down and my face looked dead on that side, I had a lot of trouble thinking too like thinking really slowly as well as feeling like I would throw up when trying to use the computer, horrible headaches, then when trying to sleep it felt like the muscles in my head grinding or something from being strained, i noticed my right ear moving (from the muscles around it i believe), my jaw muscles or something started locking at night in an open position (kind of springy, up and down but couldn’t close) which i think caused some tmj like problems, I also had horrible chest pain and shortness of breath at rest or after exercising, i felt pain during exercise too it was a struggle to go exercise but i felt better then than when not exercising, i think the chest pain is muscular as it felt like the muscles were going around my pecs up towards my neck and around the ears, prob from straining the muscles so much, my neck and jaw muscles have been getting weaker, i have taken a lot of warm baths over the last couple years and ice packs and was sleeping a lot, and my face looks better but still kinda bad especially if not getting tons of sleep, the muscles (esp face, neck, jaw, chest, feel very weak when not getting lots of sleep), some of the other things have improved too but i’m still having problems, i’m wearing a splint for tmj because i have muscle spasms around the jaw, neck etc, does anyone have any advice on doctors to see or things to have checked? any exams or scans, maybe for facial trauma? or serious things to rule out that could have happened? I have had a chest xray, basic blood tests (cbc?), checkup with neurologist, head/brain mri?, optometrist vision exam, or any tips for improving muscle weakness esp around jaw, face, neck chest, i am mainly concerned now with that, the shortness of breath, trouble talking, jaw muscle spasms and my facial appearance still looks kinda bad on the right side around the eye and that area, stress makes the muscles spasm more and causes them to be weaker but it’s not the main cause, it all started when i did that to my head, i continued to keep going and exercise which could have made things worse, and there was a lot of fighting in my house and yelling so i could have strained even more my neck or jaw, and made the muscles spasm and get weaker and worse, but now things are better and i want to get help so i can be 100% again, any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

sorry it’s so long, if anyone has any medical experience and good advice please answer, thanks!
thanks, can i email you if i have more questions sandra? are you a RN?

other symptoms i was having
-muscles pulling around my ears, into neck and chest, feeling of zoning out
- while putting warm towels on my muscles, i could really almost feel the outline of the muscles around the ear and down neck, to chest, and was really short of breath
-weak chest muscles

i don’t think it is really bells palsy, it was just that my face looked dead, and my right eye was down about an inch or so prob maybe less

admin answers:

Sounds like a few things going on, first, you could be having small strokes with the tmj. If so, you are also at risk for heart attacks, which you should see a doc for, like now! Also sounds like you could have Bells Palsy. So go to the doc now, and then go to a different neurologist, ok?

admin answers:

Mabye you should go to one of those people who help you get the musculees in your arm back after you break it to help you regain that strength. For the spasms i think you might have pinched a nerve. Im assuming youve been to the doctor before but if not you should obviously go. When working out always do it every other day so your muscules can relax. Im so sorry all of this happened to you but everything happens for a reason. Mabye youll find a cure for mucsule spams :D !

Ruth asks…

question about eyes and eyecare.?

two things.

1) is reading good for the eyes when not done for too long.
2) im starting to have blurry vision at night, however im a firm believer in trying to keep from being dependent on anything. i dont want my eyes to adjust to the glasses and then get blurry again. will doing so called “eye exercises” rid this problem?

thanks in advance

admin answers:

Reading is neither good nor bad for the eyes. IF you read for a long time in bad light and/or you need glasses and dont’ wear them you may strain your eyes but not permanently damage them

using glasses does not damage your eyes or make them worse. Eye exercises will not help your vision if you need glasses. Now if your vision is blurry only at night and not at day adn this does not relate to your having worked a long time on the computer screens for example you need to go and have your eyes checked by an optician or doctor. There is no such thing as having your eyes adjust to glasses – glasses are an aid to your eyes and do not cause changes in them or your visions. We would all prefer to manage without glasses but not everyone is that lucky Fortunatley modern technology has given us aids so this affects us less and not taking advantage of this is like insisting on dying because you dont’ want to take an anitbiotic.

Sandy asks…

Google Maps?

I can’t get google maps to print the actual map along with the directions. I checked the show original map view box and still nothing … how can I get it to print the map?

admin answers:

It works for me. I checked “show original” and the map came out.

When you check “show original” does the map show up in the browser window? Mine does. If the map does not appear after you check the box then there’s some kind of browser problem.

Try restarting your browser.

Also when you send it to the printer did you try both the “Print” link in the upper right corner as well as choosing the Print command in the file menu? I could see a scenario where one might not work but for what ever reason the other does.

Good luck

Steven asks…

Google maps?

When was the sattelite photo of the UK in google maps taken?

admin answers:

IT WAS 2005

Paul asks…

google maps?

Why is it that some places on google maps are like, pixelated? Wellman, Iowa, for instance, you can’t see at all on the map. In most places you can see individual houses, but there it’s a block.

admin answers:

The most popular areas are more likely to be photographed (the pictures come from planes taking photos of the land beneath them.)

I’m sure at some point, every part of America and the rest of the world will be filled in. But who knows how long it could take.

Your Questions About Eye Exercises

Ruth asks…

While I am doing eye exercises, should I wear my contact lenses or remove them before doing?

I am a 24 year old girl and my power is -4.75.I am wearing contact lenses now. I am really keen on reducing my power, please suggest some websites which explains more about what eye exercises are best for me.

admin answers:

Eye exercises, where you look at the tip of an object and move it in and out and left and right and up and down and over and over….don’t do ANYTHING to help, or hinder your refractive power of your eye. No matter how many situps you do, your stomach (the organ) isn’t going to digest food any faster, or slower. It just does it the way it’s supposed to…

Your eyes are already so strong, as far as bending light, that you are already focused at 1/4 – of a meter in front of you.

A -1.00 is focused at a meter
a -2.00 is focused at half a meter
a -3.00 is focused at a third of a meter
a -4.00, a fourth of a meter
-5.00, fifth of a meter.

So exercises if they were to work to make the muscles stronger would make it so your lens system got ever MORE powerful and you’d focus even CLOSER to your face and you’d need even a stronger minus lens to weaken that lens system to ‘normal’.

At 24 though, assuming you’ve no other ocular pathology, and your myopia is ‘stable’, the corneal implant surgery would be a good way to go. It places a very thin lens within the substance of the cornea which flattens the cornea some, enough to make it so your focal distance is moved OUT to optical infinity.

The other ways are the LASIK or LASEK…and some people just get their ‘cataracts’ done and the implant placed is measured according to the axial length of the eye. This makes it so that the eye is focused at distance already. Some of the new lenses are bendable so some can actually see distance, then focus close and the lens will move and refocuse the eye to ‘close’.

If you talk to a refractive surgeon…the way to go is refractive surgery. If you talk to a general ophthalmologist, the corneal implant may be his recommendation (this seems preferable as this one doesn’t ‘remove’ any tissue or damage any tissues).

But the eye exercises is more for people with a neurological problem or a weak muscle to the eye problem. Or someone that has fixation difficulties. That’s not you.

Lizzie asks…

Anyone have any Eye strengthening exercises for only one eye?

i have very poor vision in my right eye, but my left is fine. i need some exercises for one eye. i couldn’t find any on my own though…
P.S. im 14. too young to do something? or too old for change to happen?

admin answers:

Depending on your age, there might not be much you can do.

First you should see an ophthalmologist for a dilated eye exam and get glasses or contacts if the doctor finds you need some correction- especially to your right eye. Having the rays of light from images you are viewing focused on your retina (the back part of our eye that turns the light signals into electrical signals) may improve your vision if you’ve needed that little bit of correction all along.

Patching is often prescribed in children to improve the vision in one eye (the patch goes over the better seeing eye, causing the patient to use the eye that doesn’t see as well). Patching is most effective at an earlier age (ie before age 8 years) though some recent studies have shown improvement in visual acuity with patching in teenagers.

*I just read your additional info*- I would say you’re not too old to try patching, no guarantees though. Set up an appointment with an ophthalmologist (or ask your parents to). The studies showed improvement in teenagers up to age 17 with patching. Good luck! :)

James asks…

What is the most someone has restored their vision with eye exercises?

How much have your prescription been reduced, from what to what, how long did it take and can you see clearly all the time?

admin answers:

I´ve known people that recovered their vision, but it takes like 4ever and you need to do these exercises on a daily basis and u need to do the exercises even after achieving a 20/20 vision (if u do) I´d recommend u contacts or Lasik.
