Your Questions About Eye Exercises To Improve Vision

April 15, 2012

Ken asks…

Exercises, secrets, foods to eat to improve vision?

Im looking to make my vision 20/20 or at least near it. my vision is pretty bad, i cant really see much anything closer than 3 feet without it being blurry. I’ve worn glasses since i was 7-8 years old, i am now turning 15, how can i improve my vision. I’ve heard of nutrients or vitamins to eat, exercises for your eyes, not wearing your glasses to improve it, please tell me ways to help my vision out. I’ve come across websites that keep you on the tip of your toes on how to fix it but ask for you to pay a ridiculous price. Please dont give me links for them. Thanks, i would GREATLY appreciate it.

admin answers:

Maybe you knew this but carrots help your eyesight become stronger and they’re healthy for you as well!

It’s very important to get a good night’s sleep and to not stand so close to the TV screen. Try not to stare at any electronics for too long such as iPod or computers.

Last but not least, still continue to wear your glasses or even consider getting contacts! Laser eye surgery isn’t for me, but if that’s what you think is best then go for it!

Michael asks…

Has anyone tried Dr. William H Bates eye exercises??

Has anyone tried to do these eye exercises and actually improved their vision??

admin answers:

It does work, and impressively so. I used to have 20/100 ‘average’ binocular eyesight (both eyes simulateously), but after a month it was 20/40. I also get thousands of clear flashes of 20/13 or better (verified on Snellen eye chart). Nothing feels as great as being able to see strands of people’s hair from 1/5 to 1/4 mile away or even details inside a jet stream in the sky from 30 miles away!

The Bates method is about relaxation and relearning good eye habits similar to people with perfect eyesight. It is not about exercising the eye muscles, which is a common misconception. People exercise their eyes 25 minutes a day and revert to bad eye habits for the rest of the day. It just makes no sense…

Dr. Bates was simply someone with a deep understanding of how neuroscience plays a role in eyesight. He taught how to create mental imprints in the mind by visualizing something over and over as appearing perfect, leading to ‘clear flashes’. It’s a similar concept as muscle memory. You can read more about clear flashes here:,425.0.html

Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Better Vision

April 14, 2012

George asks…

Chest pain and weird vision after exercising?

So, today I was going with friends to the cinema to pre-order tickets. Well, me and another friend were waiting for the others, and started pulling ourselves on a pole. I did 2-3, but tried to look good in front of him (I know, I’m stupid) and pulled a little more. When I got down (on the ground) I felt like my chest is so heavy (or like my blood rushed trough my chest and stood there). I started seeing “yellow flys”mostly in the corner of my eye. What is going on with me. Same thing happened in the start of the school year, when I did a roll (gym class). Started seeing these flying yellow-white flashing dots.
I’m 13, no asthma that I’m aware off, had an EKG a few months and was fine.

admin answers:

The flashes are nothing to worry about, even though they are unsettling. You have momentarily suppressed sufficient blood flow to your eyes and it reacts with these gold or silver lights that may spiral about (I get them when I cough or sneeze). It is not injurious and if you breathe deeply and regularily, they will go away, as blood flow is restored.

Betty asks…

Bates Method for fixing eyes?

Hi I’m in grade 10 and have kinda bad vision. I heard bout this bates method for bringing your eye backup to 20/20. I need to know if it works and all the eye exercises for it. I am near sighted (or whichever one means you can see good close up). Could you make me like a program for eye exercises? maybe some videos too. It would be greatly appreciated. How long would it take me to see 15/20?
Do I buy a DVD?

Any answers you have will get you ten points!
thanks for reading :)
Brett, look up bates method in google videos

admin answers:

Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia

April 13, 2012

Chris asks…

Eye Exercises? Do they work? Can they restore your vistion 100%?

I’m 17, i’ started having trouble with my vision two years ago. I was prescribed a pair of glasses I only started wearing them one year ago. I don’t know what my prescription is i’m short-sited, I think the term for it is myopia (or something like that). I was hoping someone out there has had success with restoring their vision back to 20?20 or really really really close (i’d be happy with that too….any information on how i can get back the perfect vision i used to have will be appreciated.. Thanks

PS I typed this whole thing without my glasses haven’t worn them or contacts since I haeard of the eye excercise thing so its a little blurry lol the lapptop is on a table far from me …
Dawgdays – couldn’t the reason I developed myopia be that I have been spending to much time with my eyes very focused on things that are close up (ex. computer screen, books). If the reason for myopia is a change in the shape of my eye what is the cause of this spontaneous change why does it change in my eyes and not other peoples <—- that doesn't sound very fair!

Also are you guys sure about this have you heard of Dr. Bates/Bates method wasn't he a real optical doctor?

PS I appreciate your help you probably noticed that my spelling isn't so bad …i put my glasses on….i don't think eye exercises are the “easy way out” honestly i think glasses/contacts are the “easy way out”.

admin answers:

Well, if they actually worked, it would be the common therapy to do instead of wearing glasses , and everyone would be doing them.

Those exercise programs are just a scam to get your money with false promises and false hopes.

If something that simple could possibly work , laser surgery would have never been developed.

Sorry , you are in the same boat as millions of others. It is just one of the frailties humans must endure.

Joseph asks…

Does the eye exercise thing work ? Can you help setting up a schedule ?

I have myopia … details for my glasses as follows..
Right eye- Spherical;-1.25 Cylindrical ; -0.25 axis; 170
left eye; Spherical ; -2.5
I’m a Heavy reader and a computer user.. I can reduce the computer .. but not reading .. since i’m a student and my exams are near. can you help me set up a schedule ?
I sleep for 6-7 hours.
read for 8-15 hrs.
the rest is at disposal.
but most importantly …. do eye exercises work ?

Richard asks…

How do I stop my myopia from worsening?

I have to use iPads in school , and often have to use computers for project work. Thus I guess my eyesight worsens, and my degree increases very frequently. When will it finally stabilise? My degree for each eye is 600 already, I’m really worried. I do that eye resting exercise thing every 45 minutes of playing on the computer or watching TV, does that thing really prevent my eyesight from worsening?

**can I go blind If my eyesight degree continues to increase?

admin answers:

Using the computer, i-pods, etc, doesn’t make your vision get worse. The eye exercises don’t reverse nearsightedness (or prevent additional nearsightedness from developing). Generally, people don’t go blind from nearsighteness, usually that is from accidents and eye diseases. They have a special type of rigid contacts you wear at night and remove during the day (called Ortho-K) which MIGHT stop/slow down development of nearsightedness. Personally, I think they only “delay the inevitable”, but you could try it if you want.

Your Questions About Eye Exercises To Improve Vision

April 12, 2012

admin answers:

good luck

Thomas asks…

Are there ways to improve eyesight?

I am near-sighted and I want to know if there are ways to improve eyesight so I don’t need to wear eyeglasses anymore. Some sites says that doing eye exercises can improve eyesight like this link: ( But I’ve read another article saying that there are no evidence that doing eye exercises can improve vision ( Please help me! Thanks :)

admin answers:

‘if it was simple then I’d be out of a job’
That was written by someone involved in the selling of glasses. Tells you what their priorities are. Giving you a simple life and having good health pales into insignificance when it comes to their job being on the line. How exceptionally selfish and arrogant. (and its not only her, most are the same)

The funny thing is some people say eye exercise is unnecessary. One previous answer said ‘its bad because it makes your eyes tired’. Well avoiding any eye exercise and making your eye lazy would lead to…. Having lazy eyes. (and there are plenty of girls posting questions in this site who are desperate for help in this area.)

Anyway the muscles around your eye are vital for your eyesight to function. If I were to take them away or render them useless you’d be left with eyes that are unable to close or blink. Closing your eye is important for many things. Blinking moistens the eyes and helps disinfect them. Then… If I took away your extraocular muscles you’d be powerless to move your eyes around. You’d be unable to turn your eyes to look at a object directly. You’d also be unable to converge your eyes. This would lead you to having terrible double vision whenever you try to use your near vision.
And finally if I took away your ciliary muscle you would be unable to adjust your crystalline lens. This muscle enables the switch between using near and far vision.

What we are talking about is an important area and these things aren’t guaranteed to be working correctly for everyone. But we get so called ‘experts’ like Cynthia blindly saying this area has no importance or saying anyone who asks should not be concerned with it. (But do concern yourself over Cynthia and her ability to get money out of you.)

The people who say eye exercises are 100% useless for helping vision are either saying that to ensure people only consider buying glasses or they genuinely have no idea that things exist outside their dark hole (therefore they have no idea about the outside world and real life)

For evidence of eye exercises helping people i’ll list some sites that I know of:

Some people who used eye exercises to get improvement in their vision:
Meir Schneider (was blind, now drives car)
David de Angelis (was -4.50, now 20/20 + certified)
Aldous Huxley (was blind, later able to drive car)
Jane Kabarguina (was -7.00)
Janet Goodrich
Esther Joy van de Werf

So your decision is simple. Would you rather pay no money and try something out for just one hour to see if it makes a difference to you? Eye exercises and related techniques are just that. (You can walk away at any time) With glasses you will need to pay money to see a person like Cynthia, then be pressurised on the spot to choose a frame. Not easy to walk away from…

Try this video for a run through of ‘yoga eye exercise’:

I also advise you check your posture. You should be able to stand and walk easily with no strain. You should be able to look ahead with a horizontal gaze. (ie. Face not looking down at ground or up to sky. Just a normal straight ahead gaze.) Therapy balls and ‘foam rollers’ are excellent tools for posture improvement. Prices start from $15.

Carol asks…

Do glasses improve or ruin your eyesight?

I have 20/40 vision and short sightedness my optician told me that i had to wear my glasses all the time including watching tv. What I don’t understand is why somebody who cant see into the distance clearly, would need to wear glasses when looking at something close. It seems like they are trying to make your vision worst in order to make money.
And can eye exercises improve eyesight?

admin answers:

None actually. Ur eye sight becomes worse over time, wearing glasses slows down the process
it also has never been proven that tv or pc screens ruin ur sight, but just to be safe its better to buy glasses that reflect rays. Its a bit more expensive but it doesn’t make a difference in size shape or how it works with ur eyes

Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Better Vision

April 11, 2012

Betty asks…

iLASIKs not turning out perfect in one eye because of the wrong drops during surgery?

i had the iLASIKs procedure done a couple of weeks ago. I was told that it went well and I had my follow up done the next day with the same results. My vision in my right eye is perfect but my vision in my left eye is blurry and I feel like it is straining (like I’ve been working on a computer all day strain). I have been taking things easy since the surgery. I haven’t been exercising (which I normally do), I have limitted my TV and computer time, and I have not picked up a book. I did everything the doctor said to do. The thing that concerns me is that (even though I was doped up for the procedure) I remember the nurse had put the wrong drops in that eye and the doctor had to flush it out. I can’t remember which drop she used or what she was suppose to use. I just remember her laughing and the doctor saying that “I need to flush that immediately”, which he did. I know if I ask him about it he will say that putting the wrong drops in when it was flushed would not have any affect on why that eye turned out blurry (out of fear of a lawsuit, which I have no intention of doing so). I’m just wondering if he were to suggest another surgery what I should say and is it possible that it will get better? Who can I ask where I know I will get honest answers?

admin answers:

It takes a while for the eyes to fully heal and get final vision. Likely the drops made no difference.

Ask your doctor at you next checkup why the left eye is blurry and what he plans to do to improve it.

Susan asks…

Is natural eyesight improvement possible?

We are at an age where nearsightedness is found in the majority of people. And the only ways people know of dealing with this is to either get glasses, contacts, or Lasik. Anyways I have been dating a guy for a couple of weeks now and we have been getting to know each other and I noticed that he has better eyesight than me and I wear glasses. I asked him how he had good eyesight to read small print from far away and he said he was once nearsighted and ten years ago he started doing eye exercises and watching what he eats and his vision improved overtime. He says that the only problem is that it takes time and a lot of patience andyou need to do the exercises frequently and you will not notice the change right away. So why isn”t eye exercises recommended by doctors? Are they afraid of losing business by not selling glasses or is this fake? If it is fake then how come it worked for my boyfriend? I don’t know who to believe since there are some internet forums I checked out where people claim eye exercises work and there’s others who say it doesn’t. What do you think is the truth?

admin answers:

Your b/f is being tricked by the devil… (think about it…)

William asks…

How can i get better eyesight?

i wear glasses and i don’t like wearing them. is there a way that i can get clear vision or enough to see great without glasses. Please help me. i don’t want to do surgery or get contacts. i want to get better eyesight by eating certain types of food or doing exercises. please tell me how long i have to do the exercises or eat the food (for a year, a month, etc.) (ex.roll your eyes every thirty minutes) and please tell me how much or how many times i have to eat the food or do the exercises (ex.carrot eat two a day). Thank you. if it really helps then i will pick it as the best answer. :]

admin answers:

To ensure your eyesight is in optimum condition you need to consume these foods and vitamins.

Vitamin A – Vitamin A also known as retinol, occurs naturally in animals. This Vitamin keeps the skin healthy and helps produce mucous secretions to build resistance to infection. If you don’t consume enough vitamin A you can end up with a condition known as Nyctalopia (Night Blindness). Night blindness is the inability to of the eye to adapt to dim light, sufferers can see in the day, but have trouble seeing in the dark or faint light.

People who don’t consume enough Vitamin A may also go on to develop a condition called Xerophthalmia (Greek for dry eyes). This condition makes the surface of the eye become dry and likely to develop infection.

Vitamin A – Vitamin A can be found in plants with carotenes, the body converts these into Vitamin A. Carotenes can be found in carrots, cabbage and lettuce. Vitamin A can also be found in green and yellow vegetables, butter, eggs, fish liver oils, liver, milk and sweet potatoes.

Another good Vitamin to improve eyesight is a Vitamin called B2

Vitamin B2 – Vitamin B2. Vitamin B2 is also known as Riboflavin. It is needed for growth and for healthy skin and eyes. Vitamin B2 can be found in the following foods. Green vegetables, poultry, fish, liver, cheese and milk.

The last of the Vitamins to improve eyesight will be looking is called Niacin

Niacin – Niacin is also known as nicotinic acid. This Vitamin is essential for for growth and for health tissues. Without Niacin, Riboflavin cannot function properly so in that respect it is quite essential. Niacin can be found in liver, yeast, lean meat, whole-grain and enriched breads and cereals.

As you can see, consuming foods and vitamins to improve your eyesight is not difficult. The vitamins a re found in common foods and sometimes you can get all of these vitamins from one single food i.e. Liver appears in all the lists for the 3 different vitamins.

Let just quickly recap the 3 Vitamins.

Vitamin A is also known as Retinol, it stops you from getting Night Blindness and Xerophthalmia.

Vitamin B2 is also known as Riboflavin and it is essential for health eyes.

Niacin is also known as nictonic acid, and without it Vitamin B2 cannot function properly
