Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia

February 9, 2012

Mandy asks…

is their treatment for myopia?

i read somewhere that you can do eye exercises to fix myopia. so i was wondering if anyone out there has done these and saw results, and if so maybe you can give me some pointers and tell me which worked best. please don’t post anything from ehow or a similar website unless its worked for you or others you know. any help to fix this will be very appriciated since i need 20/20 for a job, thank you.
I meant in a natural way not by the obvious artificial helpers like the glasses, contacts, and the lasik surgery.

admin answers:

Glasses, contacts, lasik

Lisa asks…

Eye exercises? Help with vision improvement.?

I have a mild case of myopia, though not on glasses yet. In 6 months I might be…
I want to know about eye exercises. Its not like there’s any risk, right?
I admit, I may seem very, very vain, but I value my senses more then most things, vision, hearing and tactile the absolute most. Personally I think everyone should have perfect senses* but that’s obviously not the case.
I do NOT want LASIK or any other laser eye surgery. Far to risky.
I don’t really care how long the exercises take (though I would like for them to have effects before 6 months).

I would also apreciate knowing HOW they work.

*Blindness is well documented, and so is deafness. Now think of what it would be like if a person could not feel…

admin answers:

No, there is no risk in doing ” eye exercises” , but then again , they aren’t of any help either.

HOW they work can be explained in two words…they don’t.

Most of the ” exercises ” are just repeating the same movements our eyes are doing all day, everyday anyway. What’s an extra 10 minutes of rolling your eyes around going to do. It’s all utter nonsense.

Rolling the eyes sideways , then up and down are only moving the external muscles that control eye movement and have nothing to do with how vision works. Those muscles don’t need exercise, we are moving our eyes all the time.

Then there are others like focusing on a pencil a few inches away from your nose then bringing it closer then farther out several times…what difference is that to the hundreds of times a day our eye accommodate for near vision every time we look at something less than 20 inches away ? Another 10 minutes of forcing accommodation won’t make any difference either.

If exercises actually worked to reverse myopia, there would be new clinics open in every city and town with thousands of people signed up to learn how ,and do it in group sessions….but there aren’t any for obvious reasons.

Sooo, you just have to suck it up and get glasses if it gets to that point, like, millions of others have.

Jenny asks…

Questions about myopia?

Hi, I developed myopia a couple of months ago and doing research online always tells me different things which is so stupid.

For example some sources say that prolonged near work makes people myopic while others say this hasn’t been proven etc

Can anyone tell me for why I have developed myopia – I know it is caused by an elongated eye or one with a big curvature, but WHY is my eye gone like this? How can I make my eyesight better – and don’t say eye exercises which are total bolonga. Does wearing glasses weaken your eyes?

I developed myopia at 16 by the way, about 5 months ago, and I don’t wear my glasses because I don’t want to look like a big dork.
Hi thanks for you answer Rebecca Its good that I’ve not been wearing my glasses then because you say they make your eyes worse, I haven’t tried eye exercises because I asked my optician when I was first prescribed and she said they didn’t work and also all the eye exercises online you seem to have to pay for is there any way I can get the package free? I doubt my parents would let me pay for something that’s unlikely to work. But I want to try it now because you say it does work.

Crap I didn’t realise you can’t delete the extra details. :/
Hi, thanks for your answer. My eyesight is -1.25 in my left eye and -0.75 in my right, I know these aren’t terrible prescriptions but they still do affect me and make it hard to see the board at school so I’m sitting near the front in most of my glasses so can see it clearly. I don’t wear my glasses right now. Are my eyes gone too bad to be restored? and what do you mean unlearn these incorrect vision habits. What can I do to improve my eyesight? People always seem to say different things even looking at this page the answer above is basically the opposite of what you’re saying. You seem to know what your talking about so please helpppp…

admin answers:

We get blurry vision because we learn incorrect vision habits. We can unlearn these incorrect vision habits and return to natural perfect eyesight.

Eye exercises are very bad. They take people in the wrong direction. They don’t do harm, but they have nothing to do with natural perfect eyesight. Occasionally a person with a mild prescription and not very strong blurry vision habits will learn that they can change they way they use their eyes and improve their eyesight. Our eye muscles don’t act upon anything externally, so they are many times stronger than they need to be and don’t need to be exercised.

Eye exercises prey upon people’s intuition that vision changes and sometimes is better. When most people do eye exercises they don’t get any improvement and they get bored very quickly. Then they assume that their eye doctor was correct and that natural perfect eyesight is not possible. Eye exercises have wasted many people’s time and helped continue the deception that natural perfect eyesight is not possible.

It is important to be able to see the blackboard at school and it is required by law to have 20/40 eyesight for driving, so we don’t want to interfere with this. We can sit closer to the chalkboard and we can take our glasses off when we don’t need them. Its also not fun to have blurrier vision than 20/40 when watching shows or during social activities. 20/40 vision allows us enough space to practice the correct vision habits and get back to 20/20 eyesight, then we can get another reduced 20/40 prescription.

I have had direct experience in trying eye exercises myself and in my field I have come across many others who have wasted their time with them and failed.

Your Questions About Naturally Improve Eyesight

Lisa asks…

Is there a cure for myopia?

Is it possible to improve eyesight naturally? If not, does lasik surgery cure myopia forever? Is it very expensive? I have myopia -2 and I hate using conatcts evcery day!

admin answers:

There is no natural cure. There might be only natural prevention, before myopia develops. Some studies have shown that children who spend more time outside in natural light are much less likely to develop myopia than children who spend a lot of time inside.

Once myopia develops, then Lasik surgery is the only cure. And information about the costs and the risks of it you can find here:

Donna asks…

eye question that desperatly needs answering?

okk so i wear glasses and im starting to get annoyed about having to constantly push it upward and it gets fogged up a lot and so many problems. i need a quick was to improve eyesight naturally without contacts or laser surgery. things to eat? things to do??

admin answers:

Glasses, contacts, refractive surgery…those are your options. Don’t you think if there was a miracle sight-fixing food the whole world would know about it. Get your glasses re-fit for your face by bending the temples down more behind your ears or get the nose pads adjusted if you have them.

George asks…

what’s the worst number you could get for your eyes in vision?

and is there anyway to naturally improve your eyesight? because… i have reallly bad eyesight and i’m only 14…. and i’m really thinking about getting laser eye surgery next year if possible to improve my eyesight….

admin answers:

Typically, you can’t get laser surgery until your vision stabilizes, usually in your early 20′s. I don’t think there is any special diet or eye exercises that are going to reverse refractive error. The strongest glasses run about -20 or -25, this isn’t seen very often.

Added: if you want the worst 20/xx number ever recorded, when you get to needing like -20 or -25 glasses, that scale doesn’t make much sense any more. If your vision is that bad, when the eye doctor says “Take off your glasses and read as far down on the chart as you can” and you reply, “um…what chart” and he says, “the one on the wall” and you say, “um…what wall!”

Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Better Vision

February 7, 2012

Daniel asks…

Do I need glasses? Plz answer?

I have been fine up until the past few days. Suddenly when i watched tv for a while my eyes get tired. My vision in the right eye is blurred but the left is perfectly fine, i recently discovered that i might have hay fever. Is this the cause? and also could u give some eye exercises and tips for eye care to get better vision.

admin answers:

You probably need to see your eye doctor about that one, unless someone on here is one!

Thomas asks…

Does not wearing glasses make your vision worse?

I have horrible vision and I don’t like wearing my glasses cause one, they look absolutely horrible on me, two because they are too inconvenient. I usually never wear my glasses unless I’m going to the movies or school. But otherwise, I don’t. Does wearing them make your vision better or worse? I find that after putting on glasses for a long time then taking them off, your original vision is even more blurry than before you put them on. Also, if I don’t wear glasses and have trouble seeing a lot of tings, does that make my vision worse?

I’ve also been wondering about lasik eye surgery. how does that work? Does it make the layer on your eyeball tighter so your description changes?
The word surgery kinda scares me though, do those eye exercises on the internet actually work? And if they do, could you provide me the best website for it? How long do you have to do them for?

admin answers:

I wear very strong glasses and if I’ve been wearing them for a long time and take them off then my vision seems more blurry. Your eyes are probably just used to the altered vision caused by your glasses and need to get accustomed to not having the glasses in front of them. Straining your eyes to see things is probably not a good idea. I don’t really like wearing my glasses either, but they do help me see things so in the long run it’s a better idea to wear them if I need to.

Linda asks…

Do anybody know any eye exercise i could do to get rid of my glasses.?

I have really bad vision, but i want to throw away my glasses for good. If anyone knows any exercise i can try, e-mail me cause i read on the internet about strenthening my eyes, but i cant find any more information.

admin answers:

I haven’t personally tried eye exercises (except for palming), but here are some information you might find helpful:

PALMING – To rest and relax your eyes, sit comfortably in front of a table, resting your elbows on a stack of cushions high enough to bring your palms easily to your eyes without stooping forward or looking up. Close your eyes and cover them with your cupped palms to exclude light, avoiding pressure on the sockets. Breathe slowly and evenly, relaxing and imagining deep blackness. Begin by doing this for 10 minutes, two or three times a day.

SWINGING – Relax and keep the eyes mobile. Stand up and focus on a distant point, swaying gently from side to side. Repeat 100 times daily, blinking as you sway. Blinking cleans and lubricates the eyes, which is especially important if you spend a lot of time in front of a computer.

COLOUR DAY – You may be asked to have a ‘colour day.’ Choose a colour and look out for it throughout the day. When you see it, be aware of the colour rather than the form. For example, if it’s a red truck, experience the shade of red, not the truck.

SUNNING – Try to do this once a day. It requires a sunny day, or a good desk lamp with an incandescent bulb. The exercise is simple. Close your eyes. Look directly at the sun through your closed eyes. While facing the sun, slowly rotate your head from side to side as far as you can. This gets the sunlight on the peripheral vision, and it helps bring more blood circulation to your neck. Do this for 3 to 5 minutes. It’s amazing, even on a cold day, how warm the sun feels on your eyes.

admin answers:

You can try doing exercises to improve your vision. I recently started doing eye exercises to try to improve my vision. I created a blog where I record my progress with the exercises.

My vision is 20/400, which is really poor.

I recently saw some improvement. Other people (who have also experienced improvements) have posted comments about their experiences as well. You can check it out at:

Hope this helps…

Mandy asks…

hasanyone actually improved ther eyesight before?

no lasik or anything but has anyone improved there eyesight naturally?

admin answers:

In the early 1900s Bates said some very important things but his method focuses on relaxation only and that’s not enough, unless you have a mild myopia due to eye strain.

The De Angelis method I’m currently practicing is quite recent (I believe it’s just a few years old) and it’s much more effective than Bates. I had -3-50 glasses in April and now they are -2.00. I intend to go on until I no longer need any glasses at all. It’s a method that requires time and patience and it’s therefore to be avoided by people who want immediate results. .

Sandy asks…

How do I get perfect eyesight fast?

I wear glasses every day at work, but I really want to improve my eyesight naturally and fast. It’s urgent, like in 2 weeks or latest a month. Is there a free, guaranteed, and fast way to do this? Provided my degree is 400 on the right and 425 on the left. I’m not sure what it is with Snellen charts, but I think it’s pretty bad. Like 20/400 maybe? I can’t get weaker glasses every month- costs too much. I’m looking for a free, zero download, and fast method. Does anyone know one? Please email me at Thanks! Your reply is greatly appreciated.

admin answers:

A “free” and “fast” method does not exist. If it did, all optometrists would have been out of business years ago.

Your Questions About Eye Exercises

February 5, 2012

Richard asks…

Can lazy eye exercises correct amblyopia ?

I’ve read somewhere that special eye exercises can correct lazy eye. Is that true ?. What kind of exercises are they ?

admin answers:

Amblyopia can be dramatically improved by performing lazy eye exercises. A study shows that with a continuous treatment, some people can recover from lazy eye, or amblyopia in just about two weeks. No matter what form of treatment the doctor recommends, eye exercises will help to strengthen your eye muscles as part of your therapy program. Below are three basic methods to improve your vision.

1. Eye Patch
Eye patch is probably the most recommended form of treatment because it is safe, effective and inexpensive. The very act of wearing an eye patch itself can be considered as part of the exercise. By covering the dominant eye with an eye patch, the weaker eye is forced to work harder and can communicate with the brain.

2. Training the eyes
After the good eye is covered with an eye patch, you can begin treating the amblyopic eye with lazy eye exercises. Three exercises specially developed to train lazy eyes are : focusing, rolling and tracking.

Focusing Skills
This exercise should be performed by quick shifting focus from near to far distance. For example, read printouts numbers on a sheet of paper then quickly shift your eye to look to a wall calendar.

Cover the stronger eye with a patch, then roll the eyes with circular motion.

Another lazy eye exercise is tracking. Tracking can help people to integrate the central and peripheral vision. The central vision inform us about the object we are looking at and the peripheral vision tells us to locate the objects. Good vision should have good integration of both these visions.
Here is how to do : use your eye to track the outline of a circle or any other shape. Track the image continuously without any interruption.

3. Focusing on small objects
Train the weaker eye to look small objects or read letters in a book or newspaper. Remember to cover the stronger eye with eye patch and do this exercise at least one hour each day. If you like you can also do crossword puzzles or any other print games on magazines.

Some researchers have developed therapy computer game to help improving the neurons in the brain controlling eye function. It is said that this special therapeutic game can boost the result of lazy eye treatments.

Many people have experienced significant result by following lazy eye exercises without the help of eye surgery and artificial lenses. The exercises can effectively help you treat amblyopia at any age, even if your parents have poor eyesight condition.

William asks…

can i get rid of glasses by doing eye exercises?

I have an eye power of -1.0 on my right eye and -0.75 on my left… Can doing eye exercise improve my vision?

admin answers:

The short but honest answer would be no

Charles asks…

Does anyone know of any eye exercises to help my eyes focus?

I wear glasses, but sometimes if I close my eyes hard and open them to focus on the screen, for example the lectures in a classroom, it becomes clear and it’s almost perfect vision. However, I am only able to maintain it for about 5-10seconds and it becomes blurry again. Does anyone know of any exercises that could help my eyes train and maintain that good vision?

admin answers:

There are no such things as eye exercises to improve vision. That’s basically just nonsense spewed by people who have nothing better to sell.

The reason your eyes change their focus is due to your blink. That’s not something you can correct.
