Robert asks…

can eyesight be improved naturally?

Hi i’m doing some exercises to improve me vision. because i am sick of wearing glasses or contact lenses.

is there a possibility that my eyesight might improve naturally without no surgery?

admin answers:

Not exactly. Most people need glasses due to a degradation of the eye’s ability to see. Starts pretty early for most people. While you can’t stop the process of aging or make your vision better without glasses, there are tons of way to preserve it ad keep it in the best possible condition for as long as possible.

First, seek out foods rich in beta carotene — usually orange veggies, like carrots. It’s great for your eyesight, and can even hone your nightvision, according to some people.

Second, all that stuff your mom used to tell you about not sitting too close to the TV and not reading in low light… Basically anything that strains your eyes shouldn’t be done habitually over long periods. This obviously won’t help your case.

George asks…

The way to improve eyesight/?

I cured my bad eyesight by relaxing my eyes, doing some eye exercises, and reducing eye strain. I also started eating healthier. Anyways< I personally think that the reason optometrists are denying that eye exercises work is because not only have they tried them, but because it would ruin their long career. You have to give it a couple of days to notice the change it ain't gonna happen in one day. Glasses just worsen your eyesight. Anyways if it is imposible to improve eyesight naturally, then how come I was able to do it? Explain that to your eye doctor.

admin answers:

It is going to depend on how bad your eyesight was before you improved it. For some who have a very small prescription in their eyes or their visual problems was due to some underlying condition, then yes getting healthy and doing some exercises will improve your vision. However for argument sake if there was a magic pill that cured everyone on the planet of the need for eye glasses, the Optometry profession will not disappear. What people are not aware of is that Optometrist verify the health of the eye. Eating healthy or doing eye exercises is not going to change someone’s family history of glaucoma, macular degeneration or diabetes. And if you time the visit just right Optometrist can also predict strokes (the optic nerve will be inflamed if there is swelling in the brain) An specialist such as an Ophthalmologist will not want to fulfill this role, they would rather perform surgeries since they make more money on surgeries than just verifying the health of the retina. So the profession will not change as a whole. The ones that will have a problem with the miracle pill or the exercises are the corporations that manufacture eyeglasses and contact lenses. So who has more power, an Optometrist or a corporation that spans the country?

Joseph asks…

do eye exercises and such really improve your eye site?

i would like to find a way to naturally improve my eyesight. i have looked up the bates method, but apparantly it’s not scientifically proven to work. does anyone have any suggestions?

admin answers:

If you’re looking for natural methods that are scientifically proven, you can stop your search right now because you wont’ find any. That doesn’t mean that natural methods don’t work, it only means that natural methods have not been studied in a scientific way. A scientific study would require huge amounts of money, lots of doctors and a very long time. It would also require something nearly impossible to find: many people who practice a certain method regularly and for the necessary time, which could mean years. Natural methods are dozens. To study just one would be very dificult but to study them all would be inconceivable because you have to always bear in mind that natural methods are NOT a source of money such as drugs, laser surgery and so on. The method I’m practicing I learned from a book that cost me $10. Who would spend millions to study something that’s so cheap ? Moreover I do not need the book anymore because I already know what to do.

Unfortunately there are many methods that are just scams but you can easily recognize them because they promise miracles . Miracles do not exist. You have to work hard for a long time. Dont’ trust method which promise to cure everything from nearsightedness to cataract or macular degeneraton, that’s simply impossible.

I used to be skeptical about these methods because they were always advertised like the latest wondrous diet-pill and i didn’t trust Bates because it’s too old (early ’900). But last year a found a book that despite the pretentious title (“The secret of perfect vision”) is actually very serious and full of explanations as to why an eye gets nearsighted and what we have to do to reverse the process.
So far I’ve decreased my prescription from -4 to -2 and I don’t think I’ve been scammed.
This is the book

Alternatives to Improve Eyesight

Article by Charles Cheow

The immediate reaction for someone experiencing problems with their vision is to think they probably need glasses. Of course eye glasses are one way to improve eyesight and further, many are taking advantage of laser surgery to do so completely and permanently. However, in some cases, it may be possible to use natural means for this task. With access to the Internet, an ample amount of information is available to anyone who wishes to try the natural way to healthier and better functioning eyes.

Often, the culprit for declining eyesight is eye strain or fatigue. As with any muscle, the eye can be easily over worked and in need of rejuvenation. Some believe that the habits we develop that cause eye strain are the sole cause of poor eyesight. While many would be skeptical about this theory, the treatment recommended by those with this belief seem to make sense and have been proven to be at least beneficial to temporarily improve eyesight. Some may approach the course of natural treatment from the perspective of “what can it hurt?” and find to their surprise that their eyes feel more fresh and their vision sharper.

It is not advised to forgo an eye exam and even purchasing glasses if needed, especially for activities such as driving for the sake of safety. However, the exercises and relaxation techniques as well as the change of habits that are recommended for a natural approach to improve eyesight are relatively easy to learn and implement. Along with the potential improvement in vision, the techniques can be beneficial in relieving stress and clearing the mind. Normally the word exercise denotes an effort to strengthen muscles. When it comes to eye exercises, however, they are done to actually relax the muscles.

Although the eye is a muscle, the muscles targeted by eye exercises are commonly those external to the eye. There is a popular theory that when these muscles are extremely tense, they not only will cause your eyes to feel strained, but will actually change the shape of them causing a distorted vision. Staring or having a limited vision field for long periods of time, such as when at a computer is the most common cause of tense muscles affecting the eyes. Making it a habit to look away from the immediate field of vision to a broader one is a great first step in relieving strain and fatigue. A good goal is to look into the distance once every fifteen minutes. Finding other exercises that promote circulation, especially to the shoulder area and above will make a world of a difference.

Sharon asks…

do Dr..mercola’s product would really help in improving the vision naturally?

admin answers:

I doubt it. I think he’s a crank. I’m not aware of any positive treatment for vision improvement other than what is available via medical science.

“The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued two warnings to Mercola related to misleading claims. On February 16, 2005, the FDA sent Mercola warnings on multiple products about misleading claims for products that he advertised on his website.

On Sept. 21, 2006 Mercola received a second warning letter from the FDA for claims made on his website in relation to “various product labels…”.

Perhaps if you could be more specific about the particular treatment, you could get a more specific answer.

Richard asks…

Paul asks…

How would I improve my vision?

My vision is -9.0 right now. How could I improve it to become -5.0 or just 0.0. I would like to learn how to do this naturally meaning NO SURGERY

admin answers:

There really aren’t many options, I would recommend that you take a daily dose of beta carotene pills and if you use the computer a lot, take Lutine which helps with fatigued eyes. Also if you do use the computer a lot, try resting your eyes in between use. To also train your eyes, you can look at a far distanced building window for 10 seconds and then look at a close object right after for 10 seconds ( do this for a couple minutes). There are therapy games and such but it won’t dramatically change your eye sight. The best way to get better vision without surgery would be to get glasses or contact lenses. But trust me to help slow the progress of degradation of vision take a pill of Beta Carotene daily, its because every second a molecule of vitamin A is used in the eye to provide the eye with healthy vision and when the body lacks vitamin A which comes from beta carotene the eye doesn’t receive sufficient amount of nutrients.

Your Questions About Eye Exercises To Improve Vision

Sharon asks…

Can you give me some REALLY good eye exercises that improve your vision?

I have heard of and I am using palming and the exercise where you focus on a short distance object, then a long distance object. I have heard of the Bates method but it is really confusing and I doubt “having a colour day” will help. Are there, perhaps, any methods that improves eye vision? I am able to do the exercises 5-10 minutes so it doesn’t matter how long I’d have to do it as long as it isn’t too long or anything. Oh yeah, I am eleven and have really bad vision (I got it from reading, apparently), and I can’t see far away things that well, they are blurry and it is kind of embarrassing to ask how long would it take to get from a 5(not sure what 5 maybe +5) to normal vision. Not particularly 20/20 just enough so I can see far away things.

~Thanks in advance.
At my vision, I obviously do have glasses but I heard if I keep wearing them my vision will get worse and worse and exercises do help, my doc recommended it and eating special foods to maintain it. It may not improve but perhaps it will stay the same. And since I am young, my vision gets worse faster. Contacts have many side effects and I would prefer to wear glasses. I have also worn glasses since grade one, but not that much and I started using it more often and often.

admin answers:

You’re right, your problem comes from reading and other short-distance activities such as computer, videogames, schoolwork and so on.
The Bates method is not just old, it’s ancient (early ’900), and that’s why it doesn’t work. You should try modern methods such as the one by De Angelis which in my opinion is the best. I’m having great results and now I’m just -0.75 from an initial -3.75

Linda asks…

Improve vision with eye exercises? How can they help ?

I have found difficulty in seeing far away objects and to be able to read I have to position news papers at arm length. My eye glasses and contact lenses help me to see things clearly but I think life would be easier if my vision gets back to normal condition and I can get rid of my glasses and contacts. A friend told me that eyesight condition can be fixed by doing eye exercises. Do they really help? What kind of exercises are they ?

admin answers:

Eye exercises can help improving our vision problems. Good eye exercises must include relaxation of the eye muscles and training the eyes to focus objects. My husband has had bad eyesight condition and has been taught doing the following eye exercises.

1. Change focus. First have the habit to change focus. This is a simple exercise that involves stretching your vision. Sit or stand in a comfortable position and look at an object that is near to you, such as a book on your desk then slowly look to a far distant object which is about 5 to 10 meters away from the place you are standing or sitting; for instance a picture hung on the wall. Continue to change your focus several times.

2. The next step is Sunning. Sun light is very essential for all kind of living creatures in this world, including human body. It can also give powerful healing effect and makes the body to improve in better health. Our bodies that includes our eyes needs energy that comes from the sun rays. That is why entering soft sun light to our eyes is practiced to give wonderful result to improve our vision. But you have to remember to do it in a very careful and safe way to avoid eye damage. Do sunning in the morning and do not stare directly to the sun! Stand in a shade such as a place under a big tree or a shelter, let the warmth of the morning daylight touch your eye lids. Close your eyes or cover them with your palms and relax. While facing the light, move your head from one side to the other.

3. Relaxation. After doing sunning, go to a quiet place, sit comfortably and do a relaxation exercise. Rub your palms until they are warm, then, put them across your eyes without touching the eyelids. Close your eyes to block the light as much as possible and sit still for about 5 to 10 minutes. Do not forget to inhale and exhale deeply and put all your muscles and mind in a relaxing position. Palming is one of the best way to ease away stress from your eyes.

After following the above exercises for a few months, now he can feel a lot of improvement.

Mark asks…

How do you improve your eyesight naturally?

Is it possible to improve your eyesight naturally? If it is, how? I hate wearing glasses & i can’t wear contact lens either because ive been having some eye problems. Any suggestions? :/

admin answers:

Well its obvious that there is no medical way to improve eyesight naturally.

Artificial corrections(glasses, contacts, surgery) are poor alternatives to our natural perfect eyesight.

We get blurry vision as an incorrect response to stress. Incorrect vision habits like: holding our eyes still, trying to see everything perfectly distincly all at the same time, squeezing our eyelids on our eyeballs to try to get more clarity, turning our eyes off to rest without closing our eyelids. These all squeeze our eyeballs out of shape and give us blurry vision.

Most can return to natural perfect eyesight by unlearning the incorrect vision habits, allowing the correct vision behaviors, and undoing the damage of artificial corrections and blurr.

The best way to start learning about natural perfect eyesight is to read the best books. I’ve got a refferal link to one of them on my website. The best way to return to natural perfect eyesight is with the help of a teacher. I help people find a good ones near them if they are available. It is important to work with a teacher that teaches face to face.

99 percent of “natural eyesight” programs out there are pushing eye exercises or eye potions and have never taught or worked with people face to face. The ideas of eye exercises(eye pushups, eye aerobics, eye yoga) and eye potions along with artificial corrections, have done massive harm to our natural perfect eyesight.

Mandy asks…

Do you know how it is possible to improve eyesight naturally?

I want to improve my sight without glasses, contacts or lasik surgery.

admin answers:

Some have had really good results from taking 2-4 Vita-E and 2-4 CarotoMax per day. One individual that has Type 2 diabetes added these two supplements to his program and when he went back to the eyedoctor his eyesight had actually improved and the prescription he was given was similar to one from 12 years ago.

Hope this is useful and feel free to contact me with questions.

Ruth asks…

You can try doing exercises to improve your vision. I recently started doing eye exercises to try to improve my vision. I created a blog where I record my progress with the exercises.

My vision is 20/400, which is really poor.

I recently saw some improvement. Other people (who have also experienced improvements) have posted comments about their experiences as well. You can check it out at: http://improvingmyeyesight.com/blog

Hope this helps…
