Your Questions About Eye Exercises

Steven asks…

How come people said that eye exercises can improve the eyesight but other people don’t?

Some people said eye exercises definitely did improve their eyesight and they said eye exercises can work. But how come people said that eye exercises DON’T improve your eyesight?

It is kind of confusing.

admin answers:

Sometimes eye exercises can improve vision. It depends on the source of the problem. You should consult with a doctor who practices vision therapy and find out what options are available to you.

Thomas asks…

Can eye exercises really improve your eyesight?

I’m a 15 year old male with a prescription of -7. Is eye exercises right for me? And what exactly does eye exercises do to the eye?

admin answers:

Your eyesight is determined by the shape of the front of your eye and/or the length of your eye. There are no exercises that will change these. Sorry.

Sandra asks…

How many days do I need to do eye exercises before I see any signs of improvement?

I recently decided to improve my eyes via eye exercises [ex palming] and i’m curious as to how long I need to do them before I see signs of eye Improvement? Thanks.

admin answers:

Hi. Well theres so much you can do but if your eyes can turn in all directions easily and you can do all the eye exercises that exist out there then maybe you wont get that much from them. Some people find making sure you relax, smile and being free to alter your own perception of the world helps. So dont be too stiff or closed minded. Its like trying out a style of clothes or listening to a different kind of music on the radio. It helps to be open minded. Also you should not be too analytical and straining to read certain things during the day. Struggling and straining never helps. And always remain comfortable with your NEAR vision. Sounds strange but thats important too

Personally i find the ones where you move your eyes around helped most

Examples:

Maybe some eye relaxation techniques might out:

If none of this does anything for you try training your eyes with pinhole glasses:

You may have some bad habits which include bad vision habits. Youve got to get rid of these

You may find with a high prescription that not wearing glasses is too much of a handicap for your daily life. You will have to try and relax without using glasses. Not feel guilty about it and make sure you go outside as much as you can.

Evidence kids who spend more time outside tend to have better eyesight:

http://www.v2020la.org/pub/PUBLICATIONS_BY_TOPICS/Paediatric%20Ophthalmology/Myopia,%20Lifestyle,%20and%20Schooling%20in%20Students….pdf

Some people find an approach with using reading glasses to help reverse the elongation of the eyeball helps:
“The Secret of Perfect Vision” by David de Angelis

Other popular books:
“Relearning to See” by Thomas Quackenbush
“The Bates Method for better vision without glasses” by Dr William Bates
“Natural Vision Improvement” by Janet Goodrich

Websites with evidence of success in natural eyesight restoration:
www.naturalvisioncenter.com/

You have to let go of the world of myopia and be happy to live the life of someone with clear vision.

Good luck

BTW the pennybar does not have any evidence of what she is saying. And doesn’t have a scientific background. She is employed as a sales marketer of the “Ortho-K” treatment (sleepign with hard contacts to force the cornea to become flatter.)
With regards to her two “sources”. One is just covering the definition of myopia. The other is a hate site that has no science or medical research behind it. It uses insulting language to deride people who seek ‘eyesight improvement material’ and its main claim that eye diseases and dyslexia cannot be cured by eye exercises is irrelevant because eye exercises are for myopia/hyperopia.

Your Questions About Can Eyesight Improve Naturally

Sandy asks…

Can I learn how to improve eyesight naturally?

admin answers:

The most effective method in your effort of improving your eyesight in a natural manner is to practice certain eye exercises regularly. You should also understand the causes that had led to the defect in your vision, the processing of correcting that defect, and the technique of focusing and relaxing your eye. You should also know how the eye should be protected from further damage and reversing the existing defects in a natural fashion. The main advantage of eye exercises is that it does not involve any cost, only a portion of your time regularly on a daily basis.

Majority of people expect instant results with minimum efforts. This is one reason for people choosing eye glasses or surgical eye treatments. However, eye exercises are a natural process and hence it takes time to produce tangible results. Consistency is very important in practicing them. In fact, when you start the search ‘how to improve eyesight naturally?’ most of the eye exercises that are offered by various websites and other sources are based on the ancient principles developed in yoga practices. The entire process is oriented towards relaxing the eye and increasing the focusing abilities. Moreover, eye exercises should be supplemented by the right nutrients such as proteins and the special eye nutrient, betacarotine.

Nancy asks…

How can we naturally improve our eyesight?

admin answers:

You really can’t. Errors in eyesight are caused by the eyeball being too short (as measured from front to back), which causes far-sightedness, or the eyeball is too long (as measured from front to back), which causes near-sightedness. If the front of the eye isn’t perfectly spherical and smooth, then the person has astigmatism. There are no natural treatments to shrink or stretch the eyeball, any more than you could shrink or stretch your fingers. The eyeball can grow longer by itself, but it can’t grow shorter. Thus, it’s possible for, say, a child to be far-sighted, and then for his eyeball to grow in length and develop normal vision. However, his eyeball may also continue to grow, and he will then become near-sighted. There is nothing you can do to change any of this. The only treatment is corrective eyeglasses, where the lens of the glasses corrects the error in vision in the eye. This doesn’t “cure” anything; it merely allows the person to see more clearly.

Michael asks…

Can anyone give me titles of books that are for improving eyesight naturally?

Especially for curing nearsightedness and astigmatism. All I need are a list of books for this.

admin answers:

Don’t waste your money. Spend it on things that really work.

Sandra asks…

How Can I Improve My Vision Naturally.?

I have been using glasses since 5th grade. I’m tired of using glasses. I don’t want to use contacts because they are annoyinq and laser eye surgery is just too expensive. Is there ways to get my vision back to a 20/20 with out spending much money.?

admin answers:

You’ve already gone through the evidence based options.

Carrots improving vision is a myth: http://www.snopes.com/food/ingredient/carrots.asp

Eye exercises haven’t been shown to work.

Sandy asks…

please help!!!! is there any way to improve the vision naturally?

is there anything i can do to improve my eye vision naturally?

admin answers:

No. If you wear glasses, no amount of carrots or sleep will change your need for the lenses. Carrots cannot re-shape your cornea. Corrective lenses or laser surgery are the only cures.

Donald asks…

are there ways to naturally improve your vision?

?

admin answers:

You can’t improve your vision but you can certainly slow down further deterioration with vision enhancing foods such as carrots, pumpkin, tomatoes, bilberries, blueberries, corn and others that you can find in a web search for “vision enhancing foods”.

A good supplement is Vision Defence Formula that you can find in a web search for “vision defence formula”.

Your Questions About Eye Exercises For Myopia

October 19, 2011
By

Sandra asks…

What are some eye exercises for my myopia condition?

I was wondering if anyone knew some exercises i could do to improve my eyesight apart from palming.

admin answers:

Palming doesn’t work. No eye exercise works to reduce myopia.

James asks…

Eye exercises to correct myopia?

I have light myopia and I’ve been using glasses with -0.5 lenses for a couple of months. I heard of eye exercises that can improve my view naturally, but I don’t know how to start. Any idea?

admin answers:

I’m ordering this book about correcting myopia naturally. There A LOT of positive feedback on it on this forum, dedicated to the book: http://powervisionforum.com

It only costs $12 – what’s there to lose? If your parents are *really* against it, you can pay for it yourself.

I can’t wait till I get it!
I think you really should order it, you’ve got very, very minor myopia which would be easy to treat. The author of the book himself had -2.00 vision and reversed it to perfect!

Here’s the link on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Perfect-Vision-Prevent-Nearsightedness/dp/1556436777/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I haven’t got the book yet (ordered it though) so I can’t tell you if it works or not. Won’t hurt to try though, especially since it’s pretty cheap and your myopia is basically nothing – you don’t want it to grow and need glasses!!

Mary asks…

R there any eye exercises to help myopia?

Do you think eye exercises work for myopic ppl? Is there anything i should know to help my myopic eyes stay healthier to avoid getting thicker glasses?

Also, i started wearing glasses at 10 yrs, now im gonna be 17 in a couple of months and my glasses arent that thick! My friend has the same prob with her eyes and evry year her glasses keep getting thicker! Why is my condition so different when we both have myopia and i’ve been wearing glasses for 6 yrs and contacts for 2 yrs. She can’t wear contacts cuz of the strenght.

Need ur opinion on the eye exercises 2. Thanks! :D

admin answers:

Not any eye exercises that actually work for preventing/slowing myopia, no. Plenty of bad science & bad advice out there, but the consensus among actual eye care professionals is that generally eye exercises do not work for slowing myopia.

As for why some people continue to get increasingly nearsighted while others are stable…its thought to be mostly genetic & out of your control. Its not: how much you read, or how much tv you watch, or how close you sit to the computer, or reading in the dark, or eating carrots etc etc etc ad nauseum

Your Questions About Naturally Improve Eyesight

Mandy asks…

Is it possible to improve eyesight naturally?

I am really tired of my glasses. I want to improve eyesight naturally. I have found a step by step guide that claims to be an all-natural approach to improving eyesight. It looks promising. Have you tried this before? Does it actually work? Thank you.

Improve Eyesight Naturally
http://www.digistoc.com/improve-eyesight-naturally/

admin answers:

Myopia (nearsightedness) is when the physical length of the eye is greater than the optical length. Hyperopia (farsightedness) is when the eye length is too short. The eyes do not focus light directly on the retina and this results in blurred vision.

There is no excercise, food, supplement or drug that can change the shape of the eyeball.

Paul asks…

How to improve eyesight naturally ?

I want to be a pilot when I’m olderbut my eyesight isn’t perfect . Is there anyway I could improve it naturally ?

Thanks

admin answers:

Sure you can. In order to have healthy eyes, eat foods that are rich in vitamin A – carotenoids, lutein, zeaxanthin, beta carotene and lycopene such as collard greens, broccoli, carrots, beetroots, corn, green peas, kale, romaine lettuce, spinach, turnip greens, zucchini and egg yolks. Fruits such as Papaya, blueberries, bilberries and apricots. Also cold-water fish such as tuna, cod, salmon, haddock & sardines.

Vision improves drastically with eye exercises. Even 15 minutes a day to do them would be fair enough for a healthy eye.

1. Relax yourself and your eyes with this simple exercise. Sit comfortably and close your eyes and cover them with your both palms. Imagine you are seeing utter darkness or black. Relax for 30 seconds and then open your eyes. Repeat.

2. Close your eyes and gently rub them with hands in circular motion. You should take care not to apply pressure while doing this.

3. Now open your eyes roll them clockwise for a few seconds and then in anti-clockwise direction. Now move them up and then down, go left and then right. Repeat.

4. With a pencil/pen, mark two dots on a a white paper side to side with a distance say 5 cm between them. Now move the paper towards your eye until the two dots merge together. Repeat.

I did some of the exercises from ‘perfect eyesight’ and my vision has drastically improved. Now my left eye has -1 compared with my previous -3.5. So I’m sure that if you do these exercises daily and eat vitamin A rich foods, then you can achieve perfect vision.

Thomas asks…

Is there a way to improve eyesight naturally? And is Lasik eye surgery available for people with astigamatism?

I’m 20 years old and my eyesight is really bad (probably from all the years of video games, tv, and surfing the internet). I’ve decided to limit my time spent on these activities, but what I want to know is if there’s a way to improve your eyesight without the use of glasses or contacts?

Also, I’ve heard from someone that people with astigmatism can’t get that eye restoration surgery. Is that true? Not that I can afford it right now anyway, I just want to know my options later on.

admin answers:

There is no natural way to Improve eye sight. Dont fall for the advertising gimmicks.
Lasik works well for people with astigmatism.

Lasik is relatively a very safe procedure which has been performed for nearly a decade. The technology has advanced so much that its now possible to predict the outcome even before laser is done. The pre op Diagnostic Procedures are called as orbscan and abberometry.

Lasik procedure takes just 10 mins for both the eyes and you can resume normal activities within 24 hrs.

The only disadvantage is the cost of the procedure , but this can be over come when u have the procedure done in countries like India which have very good laser centers and Ophthalmologists.

Eye care tourism is becoming very popular and u can save a lot of money.

I am an Ophthalmologist specialising in eye care tourism in Chennai India.
